How long are you going to be out (roughly)?

I was thinking about a scenic road ride - but maybe I'll join this one . . .

New to the area and looking for someone to ride along with. I am free all this week, and riding a F800 gs. Looking forward to a meeting up.

Check out the ride up in Phoenix Saturday night. The Harvest Moon Ride. It is a big bike friendly night ride. Lots of great guys will be there.

Turkey Weekend Ridin'

Howdy Folks -

In short, I am planning November 23rd and 24th as ride days. We should meet up and ramble around southern Arizona.

I have a public holiday on Friday the 23rd, and she does not. That means I will pack up on the GSA in the morning and head out somewhere. She may hop on the back on the 24th, but sounds like her social plans will put her out of the mix. So, freedom is calling!

Super low key. Right now I am gauging interest. If folks are interested, we can hammer out details later.

If interest is present, I am thinking meeting somewhere along the interstate between 0700-0800 depending on the route discussed. I am game for any of the following, and of course open to suggestions! Actually, all of the rides that I will list I have already done, so something new would be fun!
  • Willow Srings to florence area
  • backside of lemmon (we could even go up the access road then back and over reddington)
  • Cascabel road to either benson or to muleshoe ranch via 3 links
  • ruby road
  • hershaw to montezuma pass (maybe blast over middlemarch road too)
  • lochiel area (not fond of the sand, but I did just get a steering stabilizer)

I am always down to explore new territory if one of your "favorite"/"go-to" rides is not in the list above.

If you're interested, reply and we can work something out. If not, guess I will jam solo and rely on the inReach in the event SHTF.

Cheers,

Speedy

P.S. I am also searching for a riding partner(s) for an xmas rally to Baja. The other day I decided that was a great use of my two weeks' vacation. So, I will be venturing down there for the first time on the new GSA for the holidays.

Interested but I'm down in Green Valley and 7:00 is a bit early to make it up to Tucson. Oh yea, I dislike deep sand on the dirt bike (ask FastPhil) and will go to lengths to avoid it on the 950 .

I've just recently bought a DR650 and have put in about 3 weeks of tinkering, tuning, and settin it up for riding off-road here around Tucson. I've owned and ridden street bikes for the last 20 years, and up until I was about 21 rode a lot of dirt bikes as I grew up in Scottsdale, mostly Huskies. Would like to tag along this weekend on any day rides that aren't too technical. I'm waiting on a set of MEFO tires that should come in the next day or so. Once I get those on I believe I'll be ready to go. I've prepped the bike well, and believe I have a good set of tools/spares on the bike. If nothing else I need to go on a couple of these rides just to learn where to ride. Thanks!

Willow Springs rambling

Ride Name: Willow Springs Tortilla mountains ramblings
Date: November 23rd, 2012
Meeting time: 0745
Meeting location: Bruegger's Bagels @ River and Oracle. There is a Chevron station on the SE corner of River and Oracle to top off at before meeting.
Estimated Length of Ride: up to 125-150 mile of dirt, 120 or so miles or tarmac. Should be a good day trip.
Difficulty: meh, I'm on a 600 pound bike with a crappy front tire. Should be easy/medium. Bouncing around near Cochran road gets a bit bumpy, but nothing technical.
Notes: bring food and ample water. There's no services to stop for munchies or water until we pop out near Kelvin and ride into Kearny.

If anyone is familiar or recommends any of these roads we can easily deviate course and go exploring. I would like to explore whitlow ranch to diversion dam road to the west. Cochran road is a fun out and back as well that I think y'all would enjoy. Lots of opportunities for adv bike porn (taking exotica pictures of your bike with gnarly, awesome Arizona terrain in the background.) along Cochran to the Gila.

If anyone has questions or request, holler! I am no acclaimed master trip organizer or planner, just figured we could make some new friends and ride motorcycles over the long weekend.

I am hoping to get out on Saturday as well. We can chat about the route for Saturday near the end of the trip on Friday. I am getting a new tire put on at On Any Moto at 0900 Saturday. After I get some knobs, I'll be hitting the dirt somewhere.

Cheers,

Speedy
