I wouldn't worry too much about it. Garmin will replace it for you but while you wait, use the mount anyway. Lots of people run without the locking screw so they can take it off the mount quickly to get pictures.

Mine sees the satellites just fine from the basement of a 2.5 story house.

Not issues under heavy pine forests yet either.

Try pushing down on the unit a little to make sure it's seated when you screw it down. The first time I tried mine wouldn't catch but just a little downward pressure and it catches everytime but yours might be defective.

Thanks, I tried that. It does not catch even with the unit not in the mount.

That's really interesting. I wonder if the BMW version will be different in any way, aside from having the roundel on it?

And both the Cambodia and Thai maps are not unlocked for the device. I think your maps are the real problem.

You could be right about the unlocked maps, it does not explain the problems I had in Europe though.

I have removed the Thai street map from the Garmin unit as I do not have the originals of the other 4 combined maps

The error message went away, but the warnings are still there. I will have to live with that and see what happens when I enter Cambodia in a week or so

I have a couple sets of these small bags:

The largest size fits a montana, plus charger, cord, etc. If you just need to protect the montana, the smallest one works great.

I use one of these. Works well and the belt-clip on the back is rotatable with strong detents. $10 at GPSCity.

FWIW, the Pelican 1040 Micro case seems to be appropriately sized to fit it as well. Can be found here on sale, although I did not try finding it cheaper as I have not pulled the trigger: http://www.ems.com/product/index.jsp...73304.11045276
