For this trip we each dragged around three wings, a soaring harness, a power harness and a pile of other gear plus fuel on a third wheel.
Before Easter we were exploring the CSR, south west coast, Flinders Ranges, plus the central and western deserts. After the Finke races we were buzzing around in the middle of the Simpson... The bikes were a fair bit heavier riding in most of these areas and the fuel load alone would be enough to make most people's eyes water.

We don't get to do that with a DR-Z if we want to fly too...

At the moment I am being punished for spending so much time away. In a quieter moment I'll make a start on the couple of hundred rolls of film that have accumulated over the past year. I'll let the girl worry about the digital video footage... I'm too clumsy with it and already spend too many hours each day with my head bent out of shape inside databases (just trying to keep them straight) to want to spend more time at a computer.
Sensational stuff
Will you be posting pictures anyplace
Glad you still use film but I switched to digital years ago and have the best of both world now with an adapter so all my original film lens work in manual mode.

You other inmates use your DR's for getting a camera into normally inaccessible places ?
Or any other fun thing you can carry on the bike to enhance the trip, yes including SWSBO

Well its a $3.99 a quart vs $11.99+ a quart, so 8 dollar oil change vs a 25 dollar oil change, but yeah i see your point for sure.

I hear lots of good things about Bel-Ray, just have never seen it anywhere around here, but even when i used full synthetics i would never go longer then 1500 miles max.

I wonder if it would be better to just go back to the valvoline and change oil more often.
Right, cheap oil and change it often, or expenisve stuff and keep it in there longer, that is the question

Im pretty sure for the next oil change ill spend the $25 bucks on the good stuff tho, cause i do love my bike, and if you actually think about, thats all they really need, good clean oil, a clean air filter and some gas, and

Right now running the 10w-40 Lucas semi synthetic oil i got at oriely's auto parts for 7 bucks a quart (motorcycle specific tho), great stuff, really like it.

I meant the difference in the valvoline and the Rotella T6 full synthetic. Rotella is only a couple bucks more. It does not say anything about motorcycles on it, it can be found on the automotive aisle, but I have had extremely good luck with it.

Clutch pull

Seams like my clutch pull has gotten hard as a rock anything specific on these to cause this? I figure the baskets is getting notched was sure if there would be another cause. I already changed the cable but it made no difference

I saw 1 case similar when piece of the bascket broke (very tiny piece) and got jammed in one the clutch spring. So the safest assumption is to open it & take a look u might only have to replace the basket. A good clutch w/hd springs runs about $60 to $100 on ebay, no need to over spend.

Tested out the range of my IMS 3.2 gallon fuel tank today,

170 miles and it ran out of gas

switched to reserve at 170 miles, ran out of gas at 186 miles, so 16 miles on reserve, 186 totall miles, i was able to fit 3.4 gallons in there, so im pretty happy with that milage, i did have to do a 1/4 miles walk of shame to the gas station tho, when the reserve ran out

made to sure to leave the helmet on, so noone recongnizes me
