Awesome, the red is a great contrast to the trees.
Grew up in Az, miss it to this day- some 26 years after we left.

the town
The town is really kinda neat - most of all, its self explanatory
![]() This is why you NEVER EVER EVER pass up fuel in the high country ![]() No petro unless you take a trip south a ways - had I not filled up, I'd still be there or knocking on doors for gasolina'. Much needed break ![]() ![]() Yes, they still work thought these were outlawed in the 90's when cell phones took over![]() ![]() I love it ![]() I still had plenty of fuel so off I go!!! Wanted to stop at a certain destination but ![]() FAACK![]() Guess there is a good excuse to go back this weekend - if the floods are gone ![]() Saw a road thought it looked good ![]() ![]() The road led me to places one shouldn't be, and I am eracing memory of the events. a short outline is, no way to go back, private property, locked gate, walking to a cabin for permission, being told to Fk.off, sliding my bike under a fence, re-assembley, flipping owners off as I blow through, AND THEN stumble upon an old mining town that was way cool. No pics, i am going back to do it justice. Just wanted to put distance between me and Fk.off people. After a quick run up 180, back in familiar territory ![]() ![]() Yep, Alpine Looky at how closey the fire came to this great place on earth ![]() a close up of the draw in the center backgound

fire
looking off the other direction
![]() A little closer ![]() The sun is located lower in the sky and SoulCat and I are 70 miles from home! Damn the bad luck - i must ride the curvy temptrist 260 back to Pinetop OOHHH the hassles of living in the high country with twisty, senic tarmac and forest roads that blow your mind. Don't feel sorry for me, I feel it is my duty to live here so others do not have too ![]() ![]() ![]() . A fantastic day on a bike - my outlook has been altered, the funk has vanished!! Needed that get-away to clense the soul, clear the eyes, open the heartIIII Monte

Due to the fires in NM, the forest service was worried that with the monsoons, the water would wash a lot of LARGE debris down the canyon and take out the catwalks. I was told that a majority of the catwalks had been disassembled and removed until the threat diminished. It might be some time until the canyon is open again.

Great pics and report. Looks like a great place to ride and clear one's head. I'll have to check it out in person some day.

That would rock. I'm not quite ready to try that long of a trip yet though.
