Is the Olympic Peninsula loop ride doable (recommended?) in early January?
I'll be in Seattle with 3-4 spare days the 1st weekend of Jan. I'm hoping to grab a rental and make a couple of days' ride out of it (target ~200 mi/ day or so). I'm just starting to research this, but aside from cold and rain, what should I know? Any threads I haven't found yet that address this? Will there be a high chance of snow? If there is, where should I go instead? Thanks in advance, ~Brian |

Brian,
Interestingly enough, or not interestingly enough, i am doing sort of the same thing in January. I'll be riding up the coast and stopping to visit friends along the route, ultimately ending up in Seattle. If you can time the ride between storms, the Oly Peninsula is doable if the threat of high wind, heavy cold rain, and snow doesn't deter you.... cheers, Steve

Think I'd be looking to go skiing or snowboarding (fuelled by coffee, of course).

I'm on Bainbridge Island, WA
If you make it this way stop by for meal or coffee, help if you need it too. Only 2.5 hours to the middle of the Oly from me.

Ditto if you find yourself in the Sequim-P.A. area. PM me if you want a riding buddy. I'm not too familiar with the whole Penninsula but I'd love to explore some more.
