Damn, I wish I liked the looks if the x as it appears to be so practical.

FWIW, it is a parallel twin, not a V-twin.

The magazine press-release reconstituters seemed to think 5999 for the X, maybe a couple hundred more.

The X definitely appeals to me for an upgrade next year from my CBR250R. I mostly commute on my bike but would like to take some longer rides in the future.

Main reasons I want to change to the X:
- Upright seating position
- Upgrade in power but still good mpg possible
- Price is within reason for my budget
- Factory luggage and heated grips available
- I like the looks of the bike

Hopefully the seat height is where I should still touch (28in inseam).

8^)

Service intervals? 8000 as with the 700?

If so, 'total cost to own' will be minimal, what with the low price and high mpg.

At this point, I'm trying to convince myself I could live with <70bhp and <60ftlb torque, but it remains tempting in a year or two.

I can't wait to downsize from my 750 VFR. It was fine when I was commuting 70 freeway miles each day, and doing even longer road trips on the weekends, but now my riding is mostly around town or 1000mi trips. The VFR's riding position is no good for longer trips and the bike is too big and heavy for around town. I figure the 500x will have a better riding position for long road trips and be much lighter for around town. The longer suspension will handle shitty pavement better too.

It has been a long wait for mid-displacement bikes to find their way back to the US marketplace. Hopefully the wait will be worth it.

Damnit you're right. I must have misread something along the way. I knew the F model and the X model were parallel twins, but somehow I got it in my head that the CBR500R was a V based engine.

I really do wish the X model came in something other than that metallic gray. I'm just a sucker for the red, white and blue Hondas. It all started with my uncle's 1983 CB1100F I guess.

Still, I wouldn't mind test riding the R and the X.

Ah I was hoping someone overseas had a test ride on the 500 X model already. But I guess not. It looks like such a fun Middleweight street bike at an incredibly low price (guessing it will be $5999). With almost an inch of extra suspension travel compared to the regular 500, to soak up the bumps better.

Honda is going to sell a ton of these three 500's across the globe, perfect new bikes for the new world order of economic wasteland.

I "requested a quote" from the local dealership. One of their salesmen called me back yesterday morning and told me that Honda hasn't released a price yet. I should have asked what they would sell it to me for if I walked in yesterday with cash. They show to have them in stock, according to the dealer's website. I'm not buying one of the first ones anyway, but I'm damn curious.

Dealers in the US can order them starting in February 2013 with deliveries in early April - so says my dealer. The NC700X was delayed a month or two from the original release date so we will see.

Based on what?

The Ninja quality is crap, whoops! I mean, cost concious, but I'm not seeing anything here that leads me to believe this bike has anything better material wise going on.
