'Twas a little chilly today but still a fun ride with my brother (forum id: rebmilc)
We saw this landmark on our travels: ![]() Close up: ![]() Or to continue the religious theme of the previous tag, happened by this school: ![]() Take your pick of which you'd like to get (or both if you're inclined). Best warm up spot was a dinner of Irish eggs Benedict at the Tilton diner before the evening ride home. :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Tagging FAIL
ARGHHH!!!
![]() I made an attempt to save this one from a long winter hibernation... but could not complete the mission. Because f the chilly temps, I rode my FJR (with giant windshield and full electrics for the driver) up I-93 this afternoon. Got up through Franconia Notch and noted that there was a little snow on the sides of the road. Started up the side roads to get the tag and the center of those roads still had snow that had been driven over into ice. I might have risked it on the V-strom, but the Feejer is no fun to pickup, especially from an icy surface. Returned back down 93 with my tail between my legs and the tag still safely ensconced in the hinterlands. With real snow due later in the week, it might sit there for a while now... And yes, even with the electrics, it was kind'a cold today. |

I'm curious. Did you make it as far as exit 41 and route 116?

Nope.
But, in the words of the late Paul Harvey: "... now for the rest of the story." As it turns out, I had previously left my GPS avoidances set to avoid highways and interstates, and take the shortest route. I didn't even pull the tag up on the GPS until I 'd got up into Franconia Notch and it took me off on Rte 18 thru Franconia village, which was OK. It then asked me to go up a side road, which after a few hundred feet had me stopping and making a U-turn to get off the ice. I'm sure that if I had stayed on I93 up to Littleton I would have been alright. But I was already cold and said "screw it" and got outta Dodge. In retrospect I shouldn't have left here so late, but didn't have a clue it had snowed up there either. I didn't figure out the avoidances until I was part way back to the barn. Doh!!

Fred,
You should have ridden my Ural to the tag (now with the studded winter tires mounted). You could have called yourself 2 Wheel Drive for the day. ![]() Art W.
