19/17 inch rims on a 990adv
Would like to ask anyone using the 19/17 inch rims setup.
How is.the handling of the bike compare to the 21/18? Offroad handling? Thanks alot |

it sits lower, transitions are quicker, front reacts quicker, more fun on road because it opens up the tire selection to nice sticky stuff..... AND if you want you can also mount Heidenau K60 Scouts 17/19 for DS work

990 Adv. wheel conversion
Thanks for this info. Have been thinking about doing this on my ' 07. May also look at trading up to a left over 2012 and converting the wheels. Aside from putting out less $$$$, I'm not sure I need a 150 HP dual sport.
Question....what was the cost and what other changes did you have to make other than brake rotors and sprocket?? Thanks. Tedthesped |

If you decide to do it, bite the financial bullet and get everything you need for the 2nd set so it's a quick and easy switchover if you think you'll be wanting to keep the 21/18 for more technical riding.

I have the 19/17 setup on my 990. When I got it I was doing mostly street and it was great! I have the K60 on the rear and it's ok in the dirt, but not great (the wheels). If you plan on moving back and forth you will have to get an adjustable side stand. I cut both my side stand and center stand.

So what is the best size to order?
2.15 or 2.5 x 19 ? 4.25 or 4.5 x 17?

yep. 4.5 rim width will work with the K60 150/70-17

2.5 front rim also not a problem both for tire size and fitting between the forks.
The SM and SD wheel will fit between the ADV fork legs and they are both much wider than 2.5". SM/SD wheels require special adapters for the ADV brake rotors to be re-positioned inboard on each side. But of course these wheels are 17" not 19"

How do Super Duke sidestands compare to a shortened 990 sidestand, i.e., mounting points & length? I'd like to keep my stock sidestand for 21/18 use, and there are several Super Duke sidestands available on Ebay. TIA.
