Looks like a really fun bike, but from a styling perspective, I don't understand why designers want to draw more attention to radiators with big, colourful shrouds or shiny, chrome finishes.

See, I want to spend about a week each on the FJR and the Connie 14, so I can see what they'd be like. What keeps me from doing that is that I suspect I'd still end up wanting an RT, and I'd have spent the money on the rentals. Absent a really generous riding buddy, I suppose.

I think it is a design relic from custom Harley's a decade ago. When the builders first started, they used little scoop fairing below the radiator to make the bikes look more sporty. Now the trend has gone, but the desire for some sort of body color down there remains. I'm with you; if it's there I prefer it be functional, rather than to just draw attention to the radiator. It would be easy to paint that piece black and make it disappear, though.

I've ridden my dad's RT, and my neighbor's Connie quite a bit. I don't like either one, really. The Connie feels heavy and it bakes me on a hot day. I can't say why I don't like the RT. just doesn't feel right.
