Hola Jeff,

Yes the Boiler was the original Boiler brought here in 1938 to run the Saw Mill as they founded the town. They moved it to the center to town as a tribute to the Men and women that came here and built the town. Cool History. There was nothing here when the 4 German immigrants came here and started the town. 600 people now live here, fishing, farming and tourism sustain the village!

Hey Mark -

Such amazing pictures, as always! Jill and I are taking notes...
Our thoughts are with you as you keep making your way south - keep riding safe and enjoying the views!

- Mike & Jill

PS - it looks like they installed this sign (below) on the wrong side of the road.

Reality Check

It is great to see these fotos to prove to myself that I didn't just dream some of that scenery up after too much steak and good red wine down there. Those rivers! Can't wait to return.

I don't think this is possible with a moto. We just met a dude on a bicycle that did it and he was very skeptical, some parts of the road (if you can even call it that) get very bad and then you have to take a number of small boats or ferries. From what I have heard, lots of bicyclists use donkeys to cross. I would love to hear if you make it though.

Radioman, you are gaining on us. Wednesday we leave for Ushuaia, I imagine you will see us leaning into the wind like a bunch of goobers.

Cheers,
Jordan and Anne

November 27th. Puyhuapi

Riding the Careterra Austral is awesome! intially I had trouble finding the Caraterra Astrual on maps.Knew it was Ruta 7, but was not actually sure how to get to it and how to ride it!

But I did!

Stayed at Casa Lidwig. A splurge but a great B& B Luisa was wonderful and full of the history as she is a direct decendant of the founders !

Relaxed a day around town! As I said the day I arrived they were moving an old boiler that ran the saw mill. It arrived in 1938 and was in use until 1982 ..... THey moved it to the center of town as a memorial to the workers that made the town possible.

It town that had a celebration with some local dancers, and musicians playing guitar

Everyone in Town was out!!

Just a few photos from town

Then another greta dinner.....

Walked back to Casa Ludwig with a nice rainbow in my hand....

Had ridden 6 KM up the road to the local hot springs but it had closed down :(

View of town from Casa Ludwig

Amazing how time and weather change things.

Its Spring/Summer Bee are out!

And an awesome sunset!!

Amazing day.....
