nice photos dude.

makes me want to go back again. was born there and have been back a few times.

also i love the 18-200 vr. you should get the 50mm f/1.8 as well for a fun and interesting lens to play with.

More to come

Thanks for replies; I do have the 50mm f/1.8. Can't argue with a sharp lens for $100

I'm going to continue this thread in a month or two with more photos. I've got loads more but I haven't had time to work through them yet.

In meantime check out my South to North Vietnam trip if you haven't already:

Highly entertaining. Like a Descovery Channel documentary.
These people are highly talented, I can't believe the stuff they can carry on their bikes ...
Also the picrure quality is fantastic.
Thanks for sharing.

Very nice. Thanks for the pictorial and keep on posting! Haven't been there since '67-'68, Xuan Loc/Bien Hoa/Saigon area.

Thanks for the continued posting of the pics, great stuff .

I've been living in southeast Asia now for a couple years and never tire of witnessing the morphing of motorbike and truck. Of all the countries I've travelled nobody can load a scooter like the Vietnamese. Cambodia comes close but the Vietnam loading capabilities far "outweigh" that of their Thailand, Laos and Cambodian neighbors. Once again great stuff.

I appreciate your eye, as nothing is as gorgeous as an attractive gal, sidesaddle on the back of a scooter adorned in her pumps and skirt. More please !!!! Years later I still think a business woman sidesaddle on the scooter is absolute ambrosia.

Like you said I have failed on oh so many times with my digital camera to get the same style shots as your DSLR but failed due to the cameras inability to quickly acquire a focus. Very frustrating.

More shots please!!!!!!!!

My wife is Vietnamese - born in the US but she still has tons of family over there so we honeymooned for six weeks in Vietnam....

Very.....um..... interesting trip.

typical traffic in Saigon

the family wouldnt let me ride in Saigon (I got to ride later on in Dalat etc) so they made me ride on the back of a Taxi and man did people laugh. Pointing and laughing....

that guy probably had easier refrigerators to move than me.....

Saigon

we were there 6 weeks and only saw about 4 real motorcycles. 3 of them were this small (400cc?) Honda.

I did see one Hyabusa.... not sure what the hell that guy was thinking..... if i lived there I would have a 650L without question

many of the scooters have strange english slogans. I got pics of a few...

cars too

and it is possible to overload a scooter....

my ride report is still up on here - one just needs to search it
