So the trials bike idea is burning in me. What should I be concerned about with a '95 gas gas 250cc trials bike I'm looking at?

Don't tell my wife, she has not gotten over me owning two bikes yet.

Only that you can get parts for it. We have owned a gas gas or two and they can be a real burden to get parts for. Halls Cycle in IL was our best source. Good bikes for sure. Didnt Frank post a trials bike a few pages back that was for sale?

The trials part of this fourm is very informative and a good place to ask quesitons. I had a 300 and really liked it.

Oh yeah, don't get caught.
Easy to see on google maps... I've been to that area, but it's been when the water was way deep and there was no chance of crossing. I might have to wander down there if the weather is good enough to get out this weekend... Oh, and if I have my $%&#@*!$@%#^ Homework done...

I emailed American Beta about that bike and got the following response:

"Looks like a 1997-1998 Beta ST 50. The ST stands for Super Trial.

I need to get on top of the valves in the Versys something fierce. Why do I own a bike that has to be completely torn down to do this fml.

Shit, you should try something like an ST1300. Remove plastic for an hour before you can even start to think about getting the valves.

Do you have a shim kit?

If the versys uses same shim size as klr/Kz/Z1... I gotcha covered. I got a pretty good size shim kit.

My klr's valves not moved over last 40,000 Miles.

They are not the same as the KLR. Versys is like my KLX and bucket over shim. I believe they are 7.48mm. Since I have 2 bikes that use them I will probably ask santa to leave a kit under the tree for me.

You can barrow the 8 and 10 mm wrench it takes to do the same job on almost all of my bikes with minimum body removal if it helps you any Kevin. I did that 10 minute job a few months back so I should be good for another decade or so...
