Nor Cal storms
Yo, heads up!
we gonna get wet! http://www.norcalweather.net/omfg.png http://www.weatherwest.com think I might gas up everything and pick up that chainsaw I have been procrastinating about. these could be some wild weeks coming up. Here is my station in Little River if you want to watch the rain levels. Treefall is what I worry about. http://mendodave.mcn.org/LWC Mendo

the software is from Scotland, Lightsoft Weather Centre, very nice stuff. going to look at a smaller Husky, I have a Husky 65 I bought in '75, it is getting a bit tired. I have an inmate riding in tomorrow night from eastern OR, I told him he should beat feet south and get beneath this while he can. Have not heard back. Somehow, riding into a storm like this just doesn't make sense to me. Mendo

Going to be interesting to see what happens. NWS issued a similar alert today. However, the last couple of storms seem to have missed the south or left us with small amounts of rain relative to either the North Bay or Northern CA. Our biggest amounts should come Friday & Saturday (~4 inches). If we get a third of an inch in the next couple of days, it will be a miracle. |

just took the venerable old Husky 65 in for maintenance and picked up a spanking new Husqvarna 445. There was a series of storms in '98 that dropped three trees across my driveway, it took a whole morning to cut my way to the road, and it is not that far! Power and phone out for ten days that time. All vehicles are gassed up and I have 15 gallons extra for the saw and generator. I'll be watching for my KLR rider coming in with that snorkel on... Mendo

But did you get some chain oil and pre-mix?
My ex's parents used to live on the coast. Anchor Bay. Anyway, house was far enough from the trees but those Eucalyptus would come crashing down and take f'ing forever to cut down. |

I don't use my saw much but the hardware store sells pre-mix which is easier that making my own...except when I run out

We've had about a 1/4" so far. Winds gusting to 19 and the barometer is at 29.87 and steady for the last few hours.
Going to be interesting to see what's next. Prediction is for about an inch of rain overnight. |
