No flyer has been posted yet, most likely won't until they get lodging sorted. I'm surprised they had Dates already. Very helpful of KTM to give those out so soon.

I have stayed at the campground Dave mentioned, I believe it is also a trailer park (was many years ago when I was there) ,I remember people picking the bus up there to ride to work/school and it was not too early in the morning. It was a decent place then. I mostly remote camp where ever I decided to drop a kick stand. But for those that dont need flush toilets are there many national forest campgrounds ? Maybe one could be targeted ? I know its probably a crap shoot, I dont know if you can reserve those, here again if in the national forest you can camp anywhere. Rough camping is a bit more fun and generally you can grab showers at a hotel or campground for a few bucks if you sweet talk the person at the desk, even a gym if there is one in town that has showers ? Colorado Streams dont offer much in the way of relaxing warm water bathing, but they do the trick if you dont want to offend your new friends. Just some thoughts.

this weekend is kinda a lull before the final blowout weekend in the boat before winter. also peak fall color is not fully here yet.

like dave, i'm also from steamboat and there are several others on ADV who are too and live there now.

what about the guys land who puts on the vintage mx races over near cow creek? someone will chime in with his name as i emailed all my boat friends this thread.

One thing I wish was that the Main Venue was setup closer to or at a camp ground/ Fair Ground. (Like the BMWMOA rallies) Find something with Cabins for those putting it on can stay in, or those Hoteling it can drive into town. Keep everyone as close together as possible.

At the end of the day, after a great ride, a large meal. Some beers at dinner are great, but getting on a bike to drive 10 miles out of town is a pain IMO.

I wish I could end the day, park the bike by the tent, and enjoy an evening of hanging out with fellow riders/campers. Walking around with a beer and good conversation around the fire.

The Camp night with Jimmy Lewis and crew was a perfect example and a great way to get fellow camping riders to travel in together.


Jimmy was a great addition to the Rally this year.

I prefer more Adventure-Outdoors and less Hotel-City, but that's me. It's 2 nights of camping, it does the body good to get out and smell the fresh air, see the stars, and have a drink around a fire with friends.

I have no say in it one way or another, but the more input KTM gets from riders that attend, I would hope the better the Rally would be and grow in the future.

It's great to see the Rally growing the KTM name is getting out.

What kind of thougths do others have about the event? (Just in case KTM does read this.)

I'll om with his info. I've been there several times for the VMX. It is an awesome place- great track area for the MX, cool sections for the trails, and oh yeah, pretty roomy for camping.

This year we started to get frost on September 9th. Later it scheduled, the colder camping it will be.... I've even seen snow as early as September 20th. Usually the 2nd weekend is historical great weather!!

I may know a few land owners a few miles from town that would probably host this event on their land.

CJRacer; If you are part of the organizing of the event, or know who is, then let me know. I can help a lot with the event as I am a long time resident of the Boat and have some experience in putting together short term management events.

Very glad KTM is coming to Colorado for this event in 2013.

no doubt , but the brewfest is an all day drinking event and packed w/ tourist.
i think people are coming to this rally to ride the area and then have some drinks at night.

i can think of 3 sweet ADV rides for the rally.
-south over lynx pass > colorado river cyn > trough rd > kremling > dirt road back up to gore pass > buffalo park north > rabbit ears > stmbt
-north routt > ellis jeep trail > 129 > california park > bears ears loop w/ some single track
-west > cr 29 > maybell > yampa bench road > echo park > dirt road back east

Yo Gents,

This event may be music to our ears. Four or Five of us were planning a riding trip from out east here where Delaware, Pennsylvania and Maryland come together. We were going to trailer the bikes out to Northern CO, unload and ride a north loop to Glacier National Park and back. Would it be worth it to attend this event before starting the loop?

Coming are 3-4 990's and a Ducati Multi. Well.....we wont talk about the Ducati. He can get our take out pasta while we get muddy.
