Replacement exhaust

We have a 1986 R65. The exhaust system seems functional, however, I'd like to get rid of the so called front muffler unit and run new headers with a balance pipe back to the existing mufflers. Are there any recommendations of sources? A PO used spray paint on the headers to dress them up I guesssssssss....I suppose I could have the original headers re-chromed.....but by-passing the "front muffler" is the real issue.

Thanks in advance for all replies.

So...no one replied? I was looking for more information on removing the front exhaust on my 1986 r65. What purpose does it serve? Can I get rid of it and install the 17 reverse cone emgos?

I've done a few experiments with my Mono R65, all in this thread.

Currently running a gutted collector with snuffs and gutted stock cans - quiet but not nice sounding and plenty of power through the rev range. I prefer the 2 into 1 with Supertrapp, but it's noisy for my early morning start....they will be back on for summer.
