Purty

Just hard to believe how each day you have to suffer through looking at so many purty sights. Darn you have seen some beautiful country, thanks for sharing the pictures. I am sure it is much better in person, to be seeing and enjoying.

Serial Killer??

Hi Mark,

Sorry not been in touch I have been out travelling pretty much since you left Santiago. It was real pleasure to have you stay with us, sitting up late over a few pisco sours chatting and listening to your stories.

Now as I have had the chance to read your full story and watch your video posts I can fully appreciate the depth of your character, your amazing courage, and your wonderful approach to life. It really puts the challenges I face in my own life into perspective and you have inspired me to be truly grateful for the blessings I have in my family, and for that I thank you for staying over. It was a priviledge for us.

You may remember the owner of the workshop commenting to me about hosting random travellers I have only met via these forums, "For all you know he could be a serial killer"

I see you are in Chile Chico now. Looks like you are loving the beautiful south, and are well on schedule to catch your boat. God speed on the rest of the trip, wherever it takes you. It goes without saying that you have a home in Santiago if you come back up to ship out.

Un fuerte abazo - Martyn

I cannot be thankful enough for the people that I have met along the journey, and in Santiago Martyn and Kate (and their son George) that opened their home to me in Santiago Helping me get set up at BMW service, Then providing with a comfy bed and hospitality and great conversations about Life, Kids, travel, motobikes and so many other topics was really awesome! It is one of the experiences of meeting other great people with a motorcycle connection that you feel like could be friends for a lifetime!! It is hard to be able to express how much this impacts a journey like the one I am on. So you just say with a heartfelt thanks!

Somehow I did not take a photo of us together

And their son George was great, when I got there he handed me a cup of tea....... In a KTM mug

And we shared some great Chilean Wine and Peruvian Pisco Sours. Including a great dinner of Grill steak and homemade Yorkshire pudding (gravy was on the table but not on my plate yet!)

Thanks for helping me with the At the BMW service center.

This looks to me to be the most beautiful riding and scenery I have seen in your RR. Just takes ones breath away just to see the pics I can only imagine the feelings of being there.

Martyn and Kate (and of course George, Hope the exams went well!)

Thanks for the very Kind comments!! It was a pleasure to meet you and our time chatting about life in your living room are what make my travels so much better! Richer and more satisfying!!

I think of how the Owners's comments are a universal thought process when it comes to "Strangers" that we meet. Also suspecting the very worst. Have had this conversation with friends I know as I have had motorcyclists stay at my home..... Always makes me laugh.

We meet as Strangers, but the common link of motorcycling creates a special bond and friendship!! I see them as lifetime friendships! True blessings in this life!

After dinner in Coyhaique, we stopped for a coffee and as we looked out the window that light was amazing.... Diana and I jump up to get some photos...

Was too bad we were right in town and not up a bit higher from the buildings. But the colors in the sky were amazing!

Next morning the 27th we keep riding south ...... Knowing that this is a great road but not exactly sure what to expect. We had 40 miles of nice pavement, including this..... Great road and amazing views!

We stop in Cerro Castillo, and had breakfast in the bus!

The KiWi's are blogging there trip as well, so, got to have a photo of this meal!!

Through the mountains and along the rivers....

Some road greading being down. The gravel surface changes through the day from "marbles", too hard pack, to loose graded, to slightly sandy....

As I have seen along the journey roadside memorials

Ken adds a Radiomanridestheworld.com sticker to his collection!

As we roll along though the dusty roads, the scenery is great, but you feel small is the spaces...

We passed 4-5 old cars doing the drive heading north!

Some really nice waterfalls...

One of the stops we had planned was the Capilla de Marmut "marble Caves" in Rio Trnaquillo

Sun came out as we found a boat to take us there...

They are an amazing sight to see

He guides that boat into a few of the caves

Dick, Diana and Ken enjoying checking out the marble

Will let the photos do the talking .....

The color of the lake was amazing

It was an interesting 1.5 hour side trip to see this place

As we got off our boat I ran into Marco and his wife who are from Germany and I had met in Puyhuaipi

Then back on the bikes to ride the last hour down to Puerto Guadal

Too much great scenery to share!!

We ride to Terra Luna which is our hotel for teh night that is on the lake. Sun is shining and the views amazing. Crystal the host, gets us settled into a room, then brings us some Beer to enjoy while sitting on the deck!!

and she rides a Triumph Speed triple back in France !! So she was biker friendly!

Proudly displaying her Triumph connection on her T shirt!

Then we had dinner, and Ken was procuring some wine for dinner!

Crystal making sure we had everything we needed at dinner. Again sporting her Triumph gear

Photos of the lake and mountains filling up our SD cards..

We had a great day riding and really enjoyed our time together!!

Puerto Guadal to Perito Moreno

Some days are just spectacular in so many way. This was one of them!! My new KIWI friends and I are having a great time together! Really these are the biggest joys of traveling is meeting new interesting people and sharing time together riding, laughing, sharing life stories and enjoying the experiences!! so Grab your coffee and have a look

We Splurged and stayed at Terra Luna on the lake. It was an amazing afternoon and evening with an incredible view.

My room with a view.

Had a great deck to hang out on ....

On our way out of Puerto Guadal to the Terra luna (6Km or so) they were doing road construction and had just laid down a few feet of heavy gravel for the road. The grader was coming through to level it off. We waited at the construction zone, and then the flagman told us to go. I was leading and off we go..... As I approach the grader, I stop and he stops. He is looking at me, like I am not moving, then head nodded to the right sort of toward the ditch, that I needed to go there.... I did, but it was too heavy and deep. I got down and around him, but as I turned up into the hill of loose fill, I took a little tip over..... Dick and Ken helped me right the bike, and get it up the hill onto the flat surface. Dick, went left, but got stuck a bit and we pushed him up. Ken was the smartest, and motioned for the Grader driver to move out of the way.... He rode right through

Terra Luna for a big splurge. Say Hello to Crystal for us!!

Good morning Chile!

Jumping for joy!!

It is a great place!

In the morning KIWI was a bit hung over.... We were all fine!!

I had the upper room, with great Duvet and comfortable bed!

Meeting of the Mascots!! KIWI, Hello Kitty, and Max are enjoying the new friendships!

We awoke to Blue skies and nice temps!

So we set off for the ride around the side of the lake toward Chice Chico, Chile and then into Perito Moreno in Argentina

The beauty is beyond words!

Panoramic

It seemed to get better and better. It was only 120 KM of gravel road to Chili Chico but it was fantastic

Both forward and backwards.....

A dusty road at times, with some light truck and car traffic, but it was amazing

Sometimes you need to stop and make a few blog notes!! What a place to do it!!

Had some more roadwork with heavy deep gravel. We had to ride through the ditch!

What a view. All day long!!

In Chile Chico we stopped for lunch. Dick and Diana are very friendly and they spotted a couple of bicycle riders from NZ so they stopped to say hello!

Just outside Chile Chico is the Chilean Border. We exited Chile for ourselves and our bikes. Then onto the Argentinian Border it took less that 40 minutes for both!

We rode 40 miles to Perito Moreno which is a none descript town and stayed at La Americano. It was expensive but not much in town to choose from.

It was an Awesome day!! WOW..... Just amazing ride along the lake!

Wow! nice photos!

You are not far away from where I am. Are you going to ride the "Ruta 40" ? If so, be careful because they are working in the road, and near Tres Lagos it is/was a nightmare.
