Gotta pick your times carefully. Photo was taken on a Thursday morning in early June around 10:30am. We started in Maryville, pedaled over the Foothill Parkway, pedaled the Dragon, were given some Dragon decals by the nice folks at Deal's Gap, and were pedalling on our way back towards Maryville when someone other than Killboy snapped this photo.... All-in-all, about 110mi round trip with the lunch stop at the former Tallassee Store.

Yes, it's a Calfee tandem... Craig Calfee is a friend.

Thank you for the kind words. Yes it comes apart for travel and, yes... she IS one smokin' hot lady and definitely knows how to stoke and how to ride pillion. Our grandkids are in awe of her awesomeness ...

You get a little thirsty when you pedal your butts over the Foothill Parkway from Maryville to Deals Gap and back on a hot day in June... Twisting the wrist, not so much.

Yes, they are... When you're not racing there's no need to waddle around like duck if you plan to spend some time exploring when you're off the bike.

(whatever that means.) it has everything to do with it being a bike that was built for a market that does not exist. the vfr1200 is a big fat 600lb pig. touring guys want something more touring oriented, sport guys want something more sport oriented, and no sport-touring guys want a big fat 600lb motorcycle. my vfr800 owning relative is a big guy about 6'-4", 240, (not fat); he checked out the new 1200vfr and said his 1200v-strom is a much better ride...

I, and most of my ST friends do not like the new VFR because it brings little to the table that is not already out there for less. Besides who the hell builds an ST and has the bags as OPTIONS!
the fjr was always a touring bike w/a sporting flair, imo. the problem that honda is having w/the vfr is that the vfr was a sport bike that folks started touring on cuz it was "just" comfortable enough. so, the vfr might win converts in a year or three, from folks like you, looking for an alternative to their present touring bikes that are a bit more sporting than a goldwing. but, the vfr market was prewiously aimed at folks that wanted a sport bike that was a bit more comfy than a full-on sport bike. and the vfr1200 isn't that.

Maybe we could start a thread called "What's HONDA thinking?"

There are a lot of questions to go in there...

Those big ammo cans are great...until you put them on the asphalt....while wearing shorts.

Seriously though, I love that Guzzi!

Kind of takes the wind-"screen" thing a bit too literally.
