Jamie James (2) on the Vance & Hines Yamaha YZF750 OW01 leads the riders off the grid for the sighting lap just before the start of the AMA Superbike Championship Series at the Mid Ohio Sports Car Course in August 1992. James was judged to have jumped the start several minutes later in the main event of the Camel Super Cycle Weekend, and was shown the meat ball flag by AMA officials. I was there that weekend.
There was a dark cloud over the event after Larry Schwartzbach crashed into the wall after the last turn. He died after a couple of days in the hospital.
Larry had won the 600 SuperSport race a couple of hours earlier.
Victory and tradgety all in one day.
