When I bought my used KLR...I was amazed at the stump pulling power of the bike. I thought everybody here was FOS describing the need for more power, and just plain liars about running at 70+ MPH....until I checked and found the installed front sprocket was a 13T!

Just saying that the 13T should give you what you want...easier than doing the rear.

I run the stock 15T now...everything is fine. Have a 13 & 16 if needed.

I'm 6'1" and with the stock shield on my 05 the wind hits at my neck and shoulders.

2012, hit me in the upper chest area. I installed the Happy Trails windshield/dash kit since it kills 2 birds with the same product. Now it hits me at the top of the helment. I'm happy with it. Probably need to throw in I'm 5'10", I also have a Terry Adcox double bucket seat so my seat height is an inch or so lower than stock.

I am 6'1" and get hit in the shoulders by the wind on my 2009 with a stock windshield.

I would like to go with a tall windshield too. I am leaning toward trying the KLRdash with the zero gravity shield or maybe just trying the stock shield first.

The KLR Dash units look awesome.

I've never ridden with one, but I can't speak highly enough of the Madstad system. 100% adjustable, quiet, turbulent-free air for any rider.

Stock for the Gen-2's, yes. Kawasaki upgraded to a 2-pot unit as one of the changes.

Damn I hate looking at those photos. Worst bike mistake I ever made, selling my '08 for street bike.

Oh well!

Are there any windshields that bolt to the forks directly and don't rely on the stock fairing mount? That entire assembly is going away on my bike and obviously I'm going to need something that mounts to the forks, or something that doesn't rely on the fairing.

I have really been wanting to change out the front headlight/ fairing assembly and have purchased a used bracket to experiment on. I love the Baja Designs big headlight look with or without a flyscreen . My thought would be to only put the screen on for long trips.

KLR soon 4Sale in Colorado

I've been overdosing on orange kool-aid lately, so my fully farkled '07 KLR will be on the market sometime in the next 6 months. Just giving folks a heads up if anyone is interested.

Partial list of accessories: Corbin flat seat, electronic cruise control, doohicky update, fork brace, tall windshield, rear rack, grip heaters, ScottOiler.... A bunch of stuff I can't remember off hand.

Forks recently got new seals & bushings.

Mileage is ~22k.

Thanks for the replies regarding wind effect at speed. Is anyone satisfied with the stock shield and not looking to change it? Looks like a lot of options out there. I find that with all the bikes I've had/have. Just was hoping I could manage longish trips the way it comes stock.
