Klx650r
Hello all I came across this site due to my ownership of a 94 KLX650r, I have learned that there wasn't many of these bikes made and there is limited info on the web. So far with the bike I have only done pretty basic things like changing chain and sprockets, carb cleaning, new tires, and fork seals. I have owned the bike for a year and so far has been a strong bike. Recently the bike has developed some bluish to gray smoke it isn't smoking heavily but I figure that its getting close to time for a ring or maybe both ring and piston change. I have heard these bikes are fairly easy to do a top end on and will be looking for any insight from anyone with personal experience with a klx650. Also anyone who owns or has owned a klx650 feel free to lemme know what you like and hate about the bike.

There is a dedicated thread on the KLX650 on ADV here:http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=159970 and a KLX650 forum on Yahoo here:http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/KLX650/messages
Lots of good information on these bikes on both. Most advise to change the automatic cam chain tesioner to manual. Mark 678 makes one. He is on both sites. http://www.kriegercamchaintensioners.com/ Probably needs some new valve seals. The parts are getting harder to find. Valves and seals are easy as I think they are the same as KLR. Rings should not be hard to find. I just did a top end on my C model. I DNK if the pistons are still available through the dealer. If not, Wossner makes pistons in a number of sizes for the bike if you can't find stock The R version has a nikasil bore covering, so a rebore is expensive.http://wossneronline.com/

Yeah, valve seals looks like it cross-references with a bunch of Kawi models including the KLR650 (all years).
