Question Replace R100RT shifter with linkage for shifter without?

I'm wondering if I can replace my shifter and linkage setup (#3, #9, #12) with a straight shifter without the linkage (#2) on my 1978 R100RT?

Just swap it out. Not sure why you'd want to be spanner away.

As a side issue I have one of the heel/toe shifters ( no 9) has anybody ever managed to use them properly? you'd need the strangest shape foot.

Parts number 2, 3 or 4 go into the transmission. Everything else is extra. Straight swap.

They shift better with the linkage. That is why it is there. Lot's of people retro linked their shifters back in the day for better shifting.

They shift much better with the remote shifter. If you want to go that route you will need a 74-77 shifter and left foot peg,
