Mountain exploration on a vintage bike!
Last summer i did a 14500km long trip across most of Europe on my Honda CX500, that is older than me! I started from Sweden, riding down through western Europe, passing UK, the alps, the Pyrenees, riding east to Croatia and back north through eastern Europe. I drove my bike through all kinds of roads and conditions and it could handle everything i threw at it surprisingly well!
The trip lasted over 2 months and i did all kinds of crazy stuff, so i will make a brief summary by posting pictures from some of my favorite places for driving. Enjoy!! Northern Spain: ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' The Alps. I liked the landscape so much that i decided to do a improvised mountain climb at the end! ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' I have more pics + story on my web page but it is written in swedish and the google translation service is quite crappy ![]() www.vladde.nl |

Well done.
Magnificent roads and scenery. Good to see the bike handled it all well.

Congrats on your trip. It looks like it was a lot of fun. I want a bike like yours, the more you rode the lower your odometer went!

If you get tired of Europe, I'm happy to swap cx's. Twin bike here, preped for distance.
Any bike issues? Or mods done? Front end looks odd, for U.S. |

Alright alright alright!!! My first "real' street bike was a CX500. I had to carry around a 2 liter coke bottle of anitfreeze as it had a pretty good leak.
Outstanding pictures |

I am glad that you liked the pics! I was surprised how well such an old machine performed during this trip, this model was built like a tank with a bullet proof engine. During the trip i have only changed the rear tire, oli + filter and the battery. Routine service.
In UK, CX500 was a popular dispatch bike during the 80's and 90's, i have heard of a bike that has done over 500 000km before it was scrapped! I can't say how much my bike has done, because i don't know how many times the odometer has hit its ceiling and started all over from zero! :) I have only made minor modifications, like mini blinkers, a sporty handlebar & mirrors, K&N air filter and iridium spark plugs. And the sticker on the front (i am from Russia originally). The 2-1 exhaust was installed a long time ago. poolman: I wish i did! But the spanish authorities has built a fence on each side of that bridge, to prevent curious nutheads like me from crossing! :) |
