That's totally true. When I had my 1978 Bug Convertible (sold it this summer after seven years), I can't tell you the amount of attention that thing got. Everyone from teenage girls to elderly men to gang bangers (really) would stop to talk to me or wave and smile at that thing. Parked it next to a $100k plus Benz and nobody gave the Mercedes a second look, but they'd swarm around the old Bug.

I think cabovers are preferred as they're more maneuverable in the confines of older European towns & cities.

Same in Japan.

You can buy one old house with that in Finland.
We get more gargo space with cabovers. Thats why they are used in Europe.

At least here in Germany the total length of a truck is limited.
If it is a truck with a trailer maximum length without a special permission is 18.75 meter.
If you have a semi trailer it's 16.50 meter.

Should be the same all over Europe.

That's why we use the shorter cabover trucks to get more usable cargo length.
