We survived............sorta

Reno B and two other Pax Engineers.

Steve working on his fuel system

So I wasn't the slowest one out there.........I past Steve (he was taking a dirt nap) and his buddies said it counted

So check out these 3 whoops..........

Steve road all three on just his rear tire. I was thinking to myself he's kicking ass today.......what I didn't know was his throttle was stuck wide open

Note the yellow padded phone pole.........look to the right at the fence.

Yep he finally had enough and bailed off..........

The aftermath

Happy to report he walked away

Very humbling experience. The track is a lot different when you ride it vice being a spectator. Here I thought I was doing pretty good getting a couple feet of air, when a rider flies past me and all I see is the bottom of his skip plate

That double is really just a long up hill and a flat table top.........some of the A riders where clearing it crossed up.

I did have a yute try and pass me up a hill on the inside. All I heard was ohhhhhhhhhh shit and then I felt his knobbie crawling up the back of my right leg. He dumped it and luckily I kept from going down with him.

Racing in general is a very humbling experience. I never bothered to try the GNCC at Snowshoe because I knew from spectating that it was brutal. After doing a few desert enduros out here I know just how brutal it is. I mountain bike regularly, don't smoke, etc. But half a lap on an enduro track (~10-12 miles) or a few laps on an MX track is enough to have me at O2 redline.

The few races I've done so far, I know when the A guys are lapping me, because I'll hear an engine pinned for about 2.5 seconds before a bike whooshes by me in a cloud of dust.

WOW... good job on the bail Steve! Bet that left a mark.

Please spare us the nekked, hematomad man ass photos.

Budds looks like a blast, but... I really wouldn't want to know just how bad I would be. I'll be happy speculating that I "might" do well.

hey old man it's Federal health benefits open season so I suggest you make sure you have the right coverage and life ins

Sounds like fun Scott, and hard but maybe I can join in the fun and be humbled myself one day.

I went by the Sonoran Desert on dirt, and through it a little bit on pavement. It seemed pretty neat, there are probably certain spots that would be nice to visit, but as much as I saw of it was just a bunch of flat scrubby desert. There are waaaay cooler places that I hit on my trip. Just my $0.02.

And I can send you the tracks, but I think you'd better read the rest of my ride report (once it's finished) to decide whether you really want to follow.

Haha, what's up folks? Finally got a chance to ride some...couldn't get yesterday off, but got lucky today.

Good job at Budds Creek, Scotty. I'm too scared to mess with anything like that. I don't think the CRF's 150ccs of fury would do much to make me feel any better about hitting the jumps, either...

edit - man, it's a good thing I don't wear that suit very often these days. As good as it makes me look I'd have to beat the women back with my helmet
