Well, just dropped $300 on a bike I haven't even picked up yet.

I bought the dynojet jet kit for the bike, and the FMF Q4 pipe.

I've read enough that removing the intake restriction, jetting it fatter, and opening up the exhaust is going to transform my new, left over 2009 KLX250sf.

I hope so anyway, I hope it is a little less terrifying to ride in traffic than the TW200.

This thread has been full of info, and I am still not all the way through it.

I'm such a bike slut.

Just picked up a dualsported 2004 KLX 300R this afternoon. Came with a nice new skidplate (not a mark on it), FMF Powercore 4, and nearly new Trakmaster IIs. Runs like a champ and looks good as well. Needs a new headlamp and a horn. I have the horn in the barn. I'll probably change the stock gearing out to 13/42 which is a good combo for my 50/50 riding. I noticed the stock airfilter in place, so I suspect a few other cheap mods may give it a bit more pop as well.

I love my 2006 KLX250S, but liked the idea of 28 pounds lighter and 5 more ponies even better. I don't mind kicking. It started in 3 kicks cold and about half a kick when warm. I tried riding it around but the ground's frozen and I was getting squirelly at every roll of the throttle.

Cost me $1200 and 4 used tires. I'll get over the loss of the tires.

BTW, the Powercore 4 is a bit louder (but it is a nice deep note) than I like. Anyone want to trade for a decent Q4 or a pumper carb and some cash?

Sent my mistress (2011 KLX 250s) off to the local $tealership last week for a makeover. Shouted her a carbi de-restrict and rejet, a 300cc kit and a new Staintune muffler to match her Unibiker radiator guards, B & B bash plate and bark busters I put on a couple of weeks ago. Wow what a difference gone from a mild ride to a wild one, the bike now performs and sounds like how she looks. Can highly recommend these modifications to any KLX 250 owner who are bored with the other woman in our lives and wants to get more satisfaction from their ride .... cant wait till shes run in and i can really put her through her paces
Regards

Well after 3 weeks of waiting, I finally made the 16 hour round trip to pickup my bike, took her for a ride yesterday and absolutely love it!!

Now to start the projects ;)

Hoping to have lots of upgrades done before the end of January

A quick question to any KLX250 owners in Utah, AZ or southern CA:
Would anyone let me try fitting your gas tank onto a KLX140?
The top part of the frame seems very similar. As per Kawi lierature:
"Ready for the off-road abuse, the highly rigid, KX-inspired high-tensile steel perimeter frame uses the same upper tubes as the KLX250S"

There are no aftermarket tanks for the 140. I'm hoping that the larger 250 tank may work with a minimal work to the seat/mounts/not sure.

I'll be in those areas around Christmas & New Years.

Thanks for any help.

Jeff

To bad your not looking around my area. I would give you my steel tank. I put on the larger acerbis and have come to realize that the steel tank sitting on the shelf probably won't ever be needed again.

Thanks for the offer.
I was not aware that the oem tanks were steel.
I'm not sure if I have driving privileges in Indiana.

Hey, I've been wondering the exact same thing - will a KLX250S/300R tank fit a KLX140?. Please post back here if you find the answer. While I don't have a KLX140, I've been thinking I may have a use for one, but more fuel would be a high priority.

Will do.
It seems like a great little bike. The L version has some decent upgrades compared to the standard 140. I've read that they're quite popular in Asia. There are guys posting on those forums with 60,000kms on them.

If it works for you, let me know. I have a brand new 2006 tank in my garage you can have. (Put on a Clarke when the bike was new)

Hello Ron!

Hope all is well with you! No longer in Dryden, I see. I think I remember you telling me that.

Thanks for the offer! If I can't find one, maybe I'll just chance it and pay the shipping for your tank.

You're always welcome to stop by with it, too.

It's a balmy -25 north of McMurray.

I'm done tomorrow. Then doing a trip around AZ, CA and Baja for a couple months.
