We stopped by accident in Erick just to see what was there. A crusty old couple in a beat up pickup told us about Harley and Annabelle's place a block or so off Rt 66. Ten min after we got there the same crusty old couple opened the museum and began entertaining - we knew we'd been had but didn't care.

@ age 21 I shard driving with dad in '68 going from L.A. to Chicago.
Through the SW? The smell of burning oil in the air along with gasoline.
It was a rough, hot, crowded road back in the day.

Good job on the mother road report. I just rode through your neck of the woods, Highway 7 was just spectacular. If you get through the eastern deserts of NM, stop by my place for a stay and get sorted out for the trip to really start.

Thank you. We have really great riding around my parts (NW Arkansas) and dual sport roads are everywhere in the Ozarks. We usually have a monthly ride and camp too so keep in touch. I may take you up on the offer too, not sure when but I'm sure it'll be worth the wait.

If you had to pick a section due to very limited time, which h are would it be ?

My riding buddy still works so time is limited to his schedule.

But I'll chime in with my favorites. First, I liked the ride from west of Springfield Mo through to Tulsa Ok. The route does not follow the Interstate, and their are a lot of nice attractions (as 10Cup did a great job detailing). If time, the section between Tulsa and OK City is good also. The other section I enjoyed was from W Tx (where the Plains drop off to scub is very dramatic and occurs shortly before the Tx/NM border) through to Santa Rosa. For someone who grew up east of the Mississippi, the change in flora and topography is striking.

Well Happycamper has some great insight depending on where you want to start.
Getting there can take some time. You can't go wrong on about any section In Oklahoma. More to see in fewer miles than some other parts. Take you're time is the best advice. You will miss a lot if in a hurry. If you would like more insight on you're trip planning PM me with and well hook up and discuss at length. It will be a fun trip especially if you like history.

Whoa, AWESOME! I've been thinking about a Rt 66 trip for years. Watching Billy Conolly's documentary on Netflix now but it doesn't compare to your RR. Thanks for putting all the time into it!
