That's all good, just remember that the early '256' ['70 - '73] motors, are a bit different to the newer '447' ['74 onwards] motors Cheers Baza

Yes one of the two gears with the spring and clip... I do not think that Mike's has it anymore. But it is available @ Yamaha.

Around thirty years ago I bought my first bike, a 1979 Special. I rode the bike to San Francisco, to Chicago a bunch of times, and all around Toronto all the time.
early 80s: ![]() I sold it to a pal who sold it to a pal who moved to Europe and left the bike in his brother's garage. The brother's wife had had it and wanted the bike gone. The bike's mine again. Nov 2006: ![]() Back to Black. Oct 2008: ![]() It runs just fine. Starts on the kicker no worries but you shouldn't be wearing your Chuck Taylors. I don't ride it as often as I should. |

Nice day for a ride in the snow. The ol XS didnt want to fire at this temp (23 F) but after an hour in the heated garage it started on the first kick.
Its pretty much uncontrollable with this front tire in the snow but it does a mean donut.

Very cool no pun intended.
I'm complaining it didn't quite get to 60 degrees here. Just started on the sub frame for my hack project. Pretty much threw a bike together with extra parts laying around the shop. Will start on the frame shortly as I already picked up the steel. Jack |
