I have a friend who hit one in a heavy rigid on the Nullabor and spent 6 weeks in horsepiddle, 1 week intensive care.

Damn things like to sleep on the warmer bitumen at night.

It would be "goodnight Irene" if you clobbered one on a bike ....

When we did the Wanaaring OCR, I noticed the Bourke Shire council trucks placing signs on the highway south. You can't see them with the scrub so close to the highway and they are well camouflaged for it. 2 steps from them, and they're in harms way.

hence the cull ......

We spotted a flock of emus about 15 metres off the Pacific Highway at Broadwater in northern NSW a couple of Sundays ago. Not in an emu farm either!

I reckon they would make a hell of a mess if hit by a HR . bloody nuisance things. A friend has a contract for the cull he sits in helicopters for days on end searching them out and shooting them in the NT.

I guess because of all the development we dont tend to think of emus being that close to the coast but they must have been there before all the highways and stuff eh ? either way I friggen hate emus and motorbikes together its an unnatural partnership!

First time I rode my PD I picked it up in Alice and was riding into Marla at night and there were about 30-40 of the bastards standing in the middle of the Stuart Highway.

I was a little over the NT speed limit, it was at that moment I learned what 20 year old brakes, lights and horn were really like, how I missed them I'll never know they were scattering in every direction.

It slowed me right down for the rest of ride into Marla fortunately it was only about another 15k.

Goats

I rode through a dozen goats between Dorrigo and Tyringham on Sunday - not something i expected at all.

Maybe they were domestic livestock?

What are the chances of any RUSH fans in Australia?

I know there are more than a few Rush fans in the U.S.A & Canada, but are there any here in OZ? Enough even to get the band to tour maybe?

Looks like B.O.C. will do a roaring trade in the new year,
they'll definately need to be stocked up with Oxygen with all those old blokes touring

A big fan here... Neil Pert(sp) is a fantastic drummer. They had many a great hit over the years. But as for a tour.... who would know.

Im probably not the first sucker to have boosted his income, if I can I would like to be sure I do what I can to be the last.
My usual conservative approach to people like him is to hunt them down and drive a stake through their heart!

As you are the one who has lost the cash you might prefer a more aggressive approach!

Hi Phil, In the 70's I was managing a diving company and one of our expat divers lost his wife and two children after hitting a camel on the way back to Abu Dhabi from Dubai on a shopping trip. They were out on holiday from the UK.
Especially driving/riding in the desert at sunset the camels are almost invisible. I had a lucky escape at that impending sunset time when the car in front, maybe 200 metres, jabbed his brakes and woke me up. Bill

Hi Mick, Can't you contact the mods on the site ? I had 2 bad experiences buying off this site from US members. One was resolved, the other not. But on the unresolved one a US site member tracked him down and gave him shit, unfortunately to no avail. Good luck with your problem. Cheers Bill
