Story I got with the pictures is, a guy was riding on the autobahn at about 6000 rpm. After hearing the noise (valve seat came loose) slowed and got onto the shoulder and limped it to the next exit.

Exactly, it should have been shut off at the first hint of noise and opened up for evaluation.
