Tracking you down

Hey there Jrzyguy,
I saw you eating tacos at Carmelite's and I said, "Hot Dog, I'm going to track this guy down," and now I have. You'll be hearing from my Jrzyguy. Lovin' the pics.

best of luck!

having lived a year in Mexico you'll find most of the travelers are Canadians and Euros. then when you add in the Americans in Mexico to this group, most all will say i'm not scared of being in Mexico...being scared is for those back in the US sitting around watching the news. the feeling is I'm living my life to the fullest here while those Americans are just hiding under rocks afraid to leave the house.

p.s. nice DR setup!!! here's mine.
this picture was taken in Guanajuato. a must see IMO. considered the most beautiful city in the americas.

Our DR's are nearly identical twins. A question for you...I'm sporadically having trouble starting the bike, even when it's warm. When it starts without a problem, it starts instantly. Typically, it eventually starts when I hold the throttle 1/2 to wide open...and for a moment, there's some black smoke from the exhaust. Yesterday, when it wasn't starting, I partially opened and immediately closed the choke...and it started (the engine was still pretty warm). BTW, it's getting the same mileage as a KLR I'm traveling with. So, what's you're best guess on the cause of the problem?

Thanks for the heads up on Guanajuato...it's marked on my map as a "must see"! And BTW, I like your attitude!

After having to postpone this trip last year, I was cautiously optimistic as the date approached. Even when you're a retired slacker, stuff keeps popping up to derail the trip. I finally accepted the fact that there's never a perfect moment to go away for a chunk of time. But I'm having a blast, and so far, the trip is surpassing my expectations...and they're pretty high!

In the water consumption department, I'm sticking with the bottled variety. And believe it or not, I haven't sampled the "clear stuff" yet. In the department of TMI, to date the plumbing is just fine.

We stayed in a Hostel 10 miles south of Mulege. The Hostel is 200' from the water, just behind the far hill on the right. On the beach in the foreground, the RV'ers set up for the winter...not a bad spot!

That is a New York plate you see on the GSA. My DR looks like a moped next to the Beemer. But in triple black and farkled to the max, it is a sweet machine!

Three guys solving the problems of the world. Can you guess which one is from NY?

And which one is from NJ? But all is not lost, there is the well mannered Canadian in the middle!

The DR will kick the Beemers ass down there. I met a few guys on big bikes when I was there - they all looked like they wished they had something lighter, and looked at my DR650 with envious eyes.

Great trip . . . ride safe!

The discussion ends well, just as dinner is served!

I took a walk on the beach as the sun was coming up...it was as peaceful as it looks!

This is Lucia, who runs the Hostel and is a fabulous cook. As you may have guessed, the Hostel is very basic...but it serves all of the motorcycle traveler's needs!

As we pack up in preparation for our ride down to La Paz, the two Matt's are deep into the Lonely Planet guide, searching for our next accommodation.
