I haven't really tossed it around enough to comment on the rear. No jacking with the dual shocks that I could tell. I just can't believe how little and light this sucker is! How's the PD doing?

Is the bike that is at Boxerworks an R65? I'm wondering if it was the bike that I owned at one time, then sold to a nearby airhead who completely reconfigured it. If so. Then I know it pretty well

But without piks, who can say for sure?

It was put in that configuration by an inmate here, pvangel, and it sounds like it was a Westchester thang

PD only needs its bashplate re-bent to fit, otherwise it should be fully sorted... I need some time off to go pace it!

Hows the GST?

Confused and ticking like a time bomb. Brad and I will be hopefully hosting a tech day with crank sprocket and timing chain replacement, and possibly balance the pistons and rods. Glad the PD is on the up an up! Oh and, thanks for my letter. I got 41 of them, funny how Christan was sneaking around on my FB page......it was an emotional day. Imagine getting 41 people telling you how awesome you are on your birthday!!!!

If you need to borrow a bash plate, let me know. Mines not doing anything. The GSPD is still just like it was after the accident. I've decided to buy another bike and take off the parts from my bike that I want to keep and get rid of the rest. That plan is on hold since I crashed my dirt bike on Labor Day and broke my only good shoulder. Ended up with a partial shoulder replacement which is healing nicely.

Oh Jenna, about that bike...

I think he had this bike at Barber in the swapmeet. I may be wrong, but I don't remember any bracing around the steering head. With that big front end, I'd worry.
I was kinda just running through the swapmeet, seemed like i was always busy all weekend.

To my knowledge, most of hte work is essentially cosmetic.. the hard parts excpet for the fork are still stock-ish.

The front is a WR, but i cnat recall if its from a 250 or a 450, or if there's a difference there.

It's off a YZ426 Same front end I'm trying to unload. Don't know what he did with the internals.?

Thats actually a good front end.. I had Yamaha in my head, but thanks for clarifying... unload one, you say? dammital!

I didn't even know you had come over. Shoulda warned me. Of Course OLH was here too, but I missed him, Redbud, etc too.

Friday was spent in the RR pits, as Alex had no adult help. Sat was spent watching trials in the AM, fast pass through the swapmeet, then RR pits, then out to dinner with Bob's Champagne Norton Racing Team. Sun was RR pits, wanted to watch MX, but ended up working on Manxes instead.

If Nathan wanted about $2.5K I'd buy that R65 to mod as an offroader and keep my GS as my street bike, but I need anther project like i need a hole in the head (which my wife would give me if I did )

Open Question

Suggestions as which model to start with for the creation of a GSPD type ride.

Babe the Blue Uly is way too much of a bovine to ride much in the dirt and sand.

Have always wanted a GSPD type ride, since way back in the 70s when BMW ran the ISDT.

Now we have some time, but not a lot of capital.

Sorry for the ramble.

Suggestions?

Monolever or twin shock.
Nicasil motor.
No SWB.or skinny twin shock swing arms.
Wire wheels.
Cross spoked wheels have their own complexities when mixing and matching parts.
Kick start is cool optional bling..

Unless you want to end up with a G/S or GS variation look alike start somewhere else as examples of the model(s) and the genuine defining parts are expensive.

Rest is up to you depending on what the intended purpose.
