Day12: Trinidad, CO - Holbrook, AZ / miles: 493
![]() Our plan for the day, get through New Mexico. Seriously, I dont know why they call it NEW because I would much rather have spent the day in OLD Mexico. Pretty boring ride, hot, not much scenery, the sun low on the horizon is right in your face and despite my urging for my brother to put on sunglasses, he burned his eyeball. The next couple days would suck for him. ![]() Lunch stop was Bert's Burger Bowl just outside of Alburquerque, which was excellent! TripleD pays off again for us! ![]() We saw alot of cops, like A L O T of cops waiting for us to cross into Arizona. Once into the state, we pulled up to a nice Days Inn (with hot tub) and found the local watering hole where a good time was had and we made it out of there with our scalps. Yeah, we won. :) ![]() The rear tire on the DR decided to fail on us and developed a nasty flat spot starting to show cord, either the wheel isn't true or my brother flatted it and it got worse as we rode, dunno. ![]() summary: slab, lots of cops coming into AZ, ate at Bert's Burger Bowl, LV NM is not the same, awesome mullet guy, long boring day, johnny burned eyeball, awesome little bar, 75yr old DJ, pool sharked the indians, saw petrified wood, discovered cord showing on rear DR tire

Day13: Holbrook, AZ - Rancho Cucamonga, CA / miles: 520
![]() Last day and the longest mileage day of the trip. At this point we had it down pretty well to a science. The flat spot on the rear was gonna be a problem across the AZ desert, so we had to find a shop to fix it. The local HOT bar maid gave us some info for in-town possibilities but we decided it'd make it the 100 more miles to Flagstaff if we took it easy. So I hopped on the DR and did 90mph all the way there. ![]() ![]() We lucked out at the local dealer, at first I thought we were gonna have a problem with the guy at the service counter but he warmed up to us and came through like a champ. A new used tire and $20 to mount it up and we were back on the slab. Many thanks to Northland Motorsports for their help, and specifically to Kim Royalty. He treated us very well, if you're in need in the area, see Kim. (they've got a nice white DR on the floor if anyone is looking.) ![]() ![]() After maybe an hour getting the tire swap done and a splash of gas, we were back on the super suck headed home. It was hot as fuck in Kingman and nothing at all to see. ![]() We pulled into home around 8pm and while relieved, we were both kindof pissy because the trip was over. Celebration beers tasted very good though. ![]() summary: longest day of the trip, boring, hot, shitty, stopped in Flagstaff for tire change, good shop, Kingman to Blythe sucked ass, saw awesome Buell, johnny's eye was not feeling it, i got pissed in Barstow, made it home at night

![]() total mileage was a little over 4200mi and while it could've been better on the way home, it was a great time. can't wait to do the next one!

well done
Truly enjoyed the video in post #14. Honestly it's a first for me to view a 5 minutes plus video in its entirety. Why? No music, no chatting, no wind noise, just the engine. Nice landscape and good surface for this riding.
Luckily few cagers in your lane or being stuck behind a hay truck! ![]() By the way, how did you avoid wind noise? I have an earplug pasted on top of the mic but still get some noise through. Thanks for a refreshing report.

yeah the video is low quality, too long and not fancy enough for most folks but i think it imparts what that road is like for us motorcyclists. so beautiful, all i have to do is mention 14A to my brother and he smiles.
thanks for the kind words.
