Howdy--
I'm currently in Costa Rica, and I had originally planned on just tagging Panama and then flipping around and heading back to the US, but now that I'm here, I think I'd like to continue on to South America. I put a new set of Heidenau Scout 60s on when I left--and although they still look great, I am expecting them to wear out somewhere in SA. Does anyone know if there is a Heidenau dealer in SA that I could plan on re-supplying with en route? Or, if there was a Heidenau dealer in either Costa Rica or Panama, I could buy them here and pack them down to SA with me. Thanks for your help! I've got the bug, and I''m just going to keep going.

Good luck. Get used to running whatever you can find. Metzelers and Pirellis out of Brazil are easy to find in most countries. The Heidenaus are an extremely long shot.

This is what we were given, kept the info for when we need it ... like now for you.
We have not tried them yet as we didn't get that far and when we get down we will have a new Heidinau on from Phoenix. Let us know who you can get on, if they are no good I will bop them off our list. I started my trip to SA with K60s on my R1200GS. They had 5,000 miles on them when I left Chicago. By Panama City, Panama they had about 10,000, and after spending some time in Colombia and Ecuador, they're at about 15,000 miles. Damn tires held up well. I'm gonna swap 'em out tomorrow for TKC-80s, but I'll bet I could squeeze out another couple thousand miles. Just have to be careful leaning it over in turns. I have a new set at home that I'll ship down and mount probably in Uruguay for the ride home, after I burn up the TKCs in Bolivia and Ruta 40.
You can probably squeeze more life out of your K60s if you're in a pinch.
