The bike definitely looks like a Kawi, and the UTV that the soldiers are riding in are the Kawasaki Teryx4. I own one and they are amazing machines, much higher quality than the Polaris that I replaced it with and built much stronger so it is a much better choice than the Polaris Ranger. (which they are making in Mexico now ) And the Kawi is built in Kansas.

Edit (looked at the pic again and that is the Teryx 2 seater version in that pic, which isn't built as heavily as the 4, and doesn't have some of the reliability upgrades that the 4seat model got, but is still a nice machine.

Cool.

I'm pretty sure that's the Christini AWD 450 military version:

Christini 450. Recognize the front driveshaft on the riders left side.

I couldn't imagine riding around bad-guy country as an enemy solider...riding by someone with a gun that wants to kill you leaves you pretty damn vulnerable with no ability to defend yourself other than to evade. Doesn't really make sense to me...

As much as I hate quads, they are a much more viable option for military use. Driving w/ NODS on an ATV at night is tough enough, on a bike it would be hell, plus a quad allows you to carry your ruck, extra gear, batteries, ammo, food, water, etc...

Not to mention that you can add your squad weapon of choice and have a very mobile platform.

Discouraged, but not necessarily banned.
I supply the military (via one of my customers) a fair amount of ATV and motorcycle accessories and consumables. Kawasaki is the largest segment, followed by Polaris and Yamaha. But there's a little bit of everything.
