We were going to drop the duck a bit of a distance away, and I would have preferred to take it into the woods farther.

However, that old fart Barry pulled a hammie- he pulled it trying to straighten out my bars from my meeting Mr. Lowside trying to launch over the raised railroad tracks coming back from the "get". And the reason he was trying to straighten them was because my shoulder checked out for the nonce from the crash . In addition to the shoulder my right leg/ankle and right elbow took hits. Both are sore, but it looks like that's the extent of the bodily damage. The bike fared better with just the aforementioned tweaked bar/forks. The jacket (First Gear Kili 3) did it's job, but sacrificed the right elbow padding. The First Gear pants got a little torn up but otherwise ok (just well ground-in cinder dirt ) . Do I need to say how glad I was wearing protective gear?

Anyway, as walking wounded we lost our enthusiasm for doing the far away ride and dropped it close by. Other than that-- it was surely a terrific day to be riding.

Aaaah!! Shoulda known, of course it woulda been you two characters to get into a predicament of these!! Wish you both a speedy recovery.

Heal well Barry and Walter. You guys aint the young bucks you once were...stick to Walter's rule of bringing younger guys with you to help out in these situations....those bikes are heavy, so have a couple guys with you.

Thanks Doug. Walter acted as if I WAS the younger guy he brought along! At least it seemed that way, when he just stood there looking at his bike taking a nap while he waited for me to pick it up!

I would have been OK if I hadn't also tried to straighten out the front forks with the front wheel pinned between my legs! A Torn hammy hurts!

Well, you guys take it easy. Its the holidays anyway, so it's a good time to leave the bikes alone for a while, heal up and spend time with family. I know that is what I'll be doing.

( getting my two wheeled fix by watching racing and reading some RR's )

Well, I did loosen the pinch bolts on the bottom before trying to brute-force it! Didn't work, obviously!

I don't know why, but I don't have any black and blues anywhere; which is very strange. I usually get deep purple followed by a full rainbow that gets me some wifely sympathy (and proper grandkid awe); without the bruising all I is get is the "you old fool" routine .

Ankle and knee are feeling better, but my mid-right back shoulder blade area is still pretty sore.
