Hey Mark, it was a 2010 990R, it's one tall bike. I had never ridden an ADV until then, only my 950SE. The 990 is FI and my SE is still running carbs. The ADV has a narrower bar, or more swept back. You sit in the ADV more. It does not feel like a GSA or a Yamaha Tenere though. IMO those have a completely different feel to them than the KTMs. I would call them dirt cruisers compared to a KTM chassis. Not bad, just different styles. The 990 still has a pretty standard feel to it. Easy to stand up on, not super wide. My SE just feels like a big ol dirt bike, Wide bars, fairly flat seat. That's what I like about it the most though.

I did notice the infamous buffeting on the ADV at speeds over 60. I was wearing the ARAI XD3. TheMasterMike is taller than me by 2 inches, which I don't like, and he wears a bullet head ARAI helmet and he does not get any buffeting. Could be the difference in height or helmet types? Don't tell anyone but I kind of liked the windshield. I think it is a taller than stock shield. I could see using one for eating up highway miles, but it's not a necessity for what I do.

Bring that 990 of yours over and we can take a spin sometime.

swap

More swappage. Didn't even bounce off Rev limiter. They install that feature so you know when to shift. It is orange. Blood lines of racing. Not a Johnnie come lately to racing.

Orange crush the competition.

Ps. The 990 pulls harder. The throttle stop lets you know the butterfly is no longer hindering air flow.

Kind regards

I would stay with the SE; wish I would have bought one! I love the 990adv, but the extra weight is hard on an old man getting older. I test road a SMT, which was a very nice street ride. But, I am not sure how it would be on gravel and dirt. I cannot find any info about 17" X 17" (wide) moto tires on dirt/gravel. Actually, I have not seen any 17" tires that looked like they wanted to see dirt, let alone gravel.

Maybe in the spring, I will travel to the flat lands!

If, and it's a big IF, if KTMPilot, oops, I mean VFRPilot had a KTM, it would of course be black?

It's still going through orientation.
Here you see that it is being taught proper manners by the Duc and the X

Once it is accepted and trained by the other members of the stable, we'll let it out to play......

It's branded KTM but I'm not sure just which one. I'll figure it out tonight and let you know.
