Coming through

My wife and I will be riding through your neck of the woods in a couple of months. We will be coming from California along the southern states through Texas along the gulf coast down to Key West then north to Virginia. What we're wondering is , is there any must see things and any must avoid areas.

DC can be considered a must see as well as a must avoid area. Plenty of Civil War history stuff to tour in Virginia if that's your thing. What area of Virginia is your end point?

It will depend on the weather as to how far north we get in Virginia, as we will be getting there in late Feb. That will be our mid-point of the trip from there we turn around and wander back to the west coast before heading north and up to Canada. Not so much history as art and architecture, but to be brutally honest beaches, we like the beaches.

I hope you like wearing your 'stitch to the beach.
The Outer Banks of NC may be a better bet for beaches than anything Virginia has to offer in February.

February?
Charleston SC, Savannah GA. Enjoy southern "culture" and beaches where it's warm enough to actually enjoy them. Wilmington NC is as (too) far north as I'd go while sampling beaches.
The Outer Banks in February are tough, even the horses have enough sense to hunker down.
April is an entirely different story.
