I think 4500 is quite a fair offer for that many miles if it was well taken care of. Mine only has about 5000 miles on it, maybe a little more, with the Hepco Becker racks, HB engine guards, Staintune exhaust and HB luggage plus a lot of other extra's it would take $5500 for me to part with mine. But I'm not looking to sell at the moment, although I have kicked the idea around since I don't ride it that much. But every time I do the Ducati torque with the Staintune exhaust convinces me otherwise.

$4000 to $4500 would be a good price

I did see that, but it was already gone. The one I've been looking at has been for sale for months. It took me a while to convince myself I want to get a G.C., but I'm sure one will come around one of these days.

My first GC I bought in 2008 for $ 4500. The second I bought in 2010 off e-bay locally for $ 3050. Both were in excellent condition.
There was one for sale last year close to me for $ 2900. I could not sell mine last summer for $2600 with an almost complete parts bike.
So yeah offering $ 4500 in my opinion is very fair if not on the high side.

Just bought this Labor Day weekend: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=811376
What is the preferred hand protection for the Gran Canyon? Cyrca, Bark Busters VPS or Storms, etc... Love the hell out of the bike so far.
Thanks, xltrider

Hand Guards

Some have asked about hand guards and the Gran Canyon so I finally got some photos taken so I will post them up here for all to see..

The bars are Pro Taper Trials Hi 7/8" bars and the hand guards are Bark Buster Storms, top clamp is a HDB

The bars are not quite tall enough for standing but are far better than stock and could stand to be and inch or so farther back.

and from the side

the guards do mildly tap the fairing at full swing so I will need to adjust the stops or better yet get some handlebar spacers that move the bars back that inch needed for proper standing.

GC skid plate

Anybody have good idea on replacing the plastic with aluminum?
I saw one time that you could use a wr450 skid plate

skid plate

Various people have built one for example a thread by Steve Craun titled Cagiva Gran Canyon Aluminum Skid Plate Build http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=648543 (not sure if the link will work)
Currently the Cagiva Gran Canyon group on Yahoo (http://us.mg4.mail.yahoo.com/dc/laun...=94gmh17d4g2c5
has one of the members looking into having a machine shop build several for group members who want to buy one.

skid plate for Cagiva GC

Here's link to the yahoo group:
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/...nyon2/messages

A member is trying to organize a group purchase of custom skid plates and center-stands and maybe a high fender...

Meanwhile I just realized I know a bunch of motorcycle shops that do excellent aluminum welding... so the option of just going ahead and making one seems appealing too...

Nice job on the ones shown in this thread!
