I have a new green machine that I want to go put some miles on. Recently picked up a 2013 KX 250F.

mylsmkj, are you able to go ride on the weekend on the 15/16th? I'm planning a trip to the western slope.

I think that I'll be willing to make you feel slow on your new bike that weekend (did I say that outloud?). So you're a 250F guy now? Damn! I wanted to ride that GG once, I guess I don't have to smell pre-mix when you smoke me now!

For real let me know, I have a fair amount of latitude after this Friday.

No go for me this weekend, family weekend already planned to Durango. Enjoy! We got a dusting last night, but seems clear at the moment. As long as they didn't get much moisture at the Adobes you should be good to go! Mylsmkj, if weather stays like this i might come your way a bit this winter. I just got a new bike, sort of. My Boss signed the title to the "company" bike over to me, so the Beta is officially mine now! Maybe that is the reason we got a little snow...

There is a long list of people who have been doing just that lately. Rode with Scott Bright and Brad Hendry on Sunday and got my ass handed to me mile after mile. The suspension is still set up with MX valving so its a little harsh for me, but the geometry and the FI motor are exactly what I wanted. My current strategy is to just shut my eyes and twist the grip. I haven't fallen into any canyons yet, so I can conclude with the up-most confidence that this is a winning strategy.

I am game on for next weekend. Preliminary idea is to ride two different places on Saturday and Sunday, but I honestly dont care where. I just want some seat time. I would also like to pick a ~40 mile loop. Ride it once in the morning. Come back to the trucks to grill some burgers Then do the loop again in the afternoon.

Thoughts?

Anyone want to start a pool as to how long before this engine is toast?

Just kidding man. You've had a tough run with top ends. Have you considered buying a KLR?

Funny you mentioned this, cross-country and I were out at White Wash and ran into the dude that lost his Husky off the edge of the Rim Trail out at Rabbit Valley about 2 months ago (I'm sure you've seen that Youtube vid)

I'll do whatever, I'm off for the rest of the month after Monday.

No offense taken. I know of several other riders who would want in on that pool. Measured in hours, my bikes last a long time. Measured in calendar months... well thats a much shorter story. The GasGas miraculously survived 11 months with me at the helm. Not bad considering it had 30 races and three top ends to boot. I put 60 hours on the motor in January alone. I did learn my lesson however... don't try and chase fast riders up Donnor while ignoring the steaming radiator.

On a different note though, I found a new winter time destination that is ~2 hours from our house. I'll PM you some info.

Once you back out the compression, they become much more trail worthy. My first few rides on this bike have had quick rates of fatigue. I attribute this to the MX stiffness of the forks. I am now able to ride more aggressive for longer periods.

Feel free to take it for a spin when we ride this coming weekend.
