gonna jump in here with a question on my 2011 Klr....
I bought it new at the end of last winter and it's now got just under 10Kmi on it without any significant issues and there's been no known contributing episodes(crash, mechanical etc). I'm running Rotella T and changing it every 2-3Kmi. I'm not seeing anything scary on the magnetic drain plug other'n a small amount of metal that doesn't even cover the end of the magnet tip. Almost every time I shift to 5th, I feel a 'click' in the shift lever as it comes out of 4th. I'm sure it's not as it's going into 5th but coming out of 4th...IOW I feel the click at the start of the shift lever movement as opposed to nearer the end. I've tried pulling in the clutch and "giving it a second" before shifting and it's still felt in the shift lever. Clutch cable 'play' is adjusted correctly and it's not doing this in other gears. Doesn't seem to matter what speed I'm rolling at either. Again, it's almost every time I go from 4th to 5th. Any ideas on the cause?

![]() 280 miles is about the furthest I think I could push on the 2009 also. Haven't really tried it. Most I've gone is about 265-270 miles before filling up. Always hit reserve around 240 miles

I would love to see how you mounted the fender. I have a HT fork brave and the same front fender. I would love to set mine up like that.

So really the only mod left I have any major desire to do is possibly a Rekluse clutch. I know there have been a few folks on here with them in a KLR. Are they worth the cost? Is there anyone who has one they might want to get rid of? I am trying to take care of little details for the Alcan 5000 trip. Any input?

Very nicely set-up bike.
The black with only the Kawasaki name looks great. I'll be doing that to mine come spring. What mirrors are you using and do they mount the same way?

fuel range
Unless I am reading it wrong it appears that other are getting close to 300 miles on tank. I hit reserve around 200 depending on riding (75 on the interstate and I'll hit reserve around 175). Is this odd or am I reading others results wrong?

I'm more close to your figures than others, but the PO of my bike modified the intake and exhaust. I get about 205 with 75MPH interstate dominate riding, and about 245-250 with backroad putzing around. I say I average about 45mpg, looks like others are getting nearly 60?
