Did he make some mistakes yes, that one race he started leading he got excited and binned it. Spies wanted the bike set up really hard, apparently harder than the Yamaha wanted to be set - broken shock mount as a result. So you can interpret that as the bike not being adapted to him, or vice versa.

There were enough mistakes to go around, so lets just say it wasn't a good match and move on. Quitting via Twitter was unprofessional, no matter what the executive had to say. Hopefully, he will enjoy the Ducati family.

Riiiiiight. Rossi had better hand back the 09 title then, given Stoner missed so many races through illness. Oh, and while we're at it, Rainey can give up his 92 title because Doohan was out injured after leading the championship race by a mile...

Your kidding right? His settings are what broke the shock mount? Getthefunkoutahere with that

His settings also made his engine expire in Indianapolis... way too much preload up front, couldn't take it

Lets be realistic, at minimum Rossi is going to have his hands full with Lorenzo, Pedro and others. They've were a challenge a couple years ago and they've only matured in their riding since then. Mean while, we can't say just how fast Rossi still is.


Could make for some great racing next year... but I doubt Rossi will just stomp everyone.

There might be some truth to that. I remember reading something about him running an unusually stiff swingarm in AMA and SBK because that's what he liked. Laguna is probably the most punishing track on suspension throughout the year but its hard to imagine there wasn't some sort of defect.
