Not a great fan of rides with lots of riders - although I understand that it is effectively lots of smaller groups
Would love to fide as much of the route as possible at some stage - I've never ridden further south than CHCH.

It really is fantastic riding down there Mark. I love the change in the terrain when going over Danseys- on the Sthn side you really get the feeling you're in the Deep South. I actually rode pretty much by myself most of the time but was good to chat to someone when you stopped - some quite intresting characters involved.
It is the riding KLRs love down there.

Not a fan of group rides myself so trust me it isn't like that, just go at your own pace and maybe occaisionally catch up with other groups or single riders. Once in a while you may end up in a group, but not often.

You would absolutely love it, guaranteed.

I'll vouch for that, have just ridden today from Ranfurly to Hokitika, almost 700k's, including about 150k's of dirt/gravel, in the rain/drizzle/wind/fog, rode over 5 passes, Danesy, the Haka, Mckenzie, Bourkes and Arthurs, and loved every minute of it. Less then 10 hrs total travel time including, lunch, smoko and photo stops, gotta love BIG tanks. When was the last time you did 450k's between stops in NZ.?

Hopefully photo's to follow when I get back to my motel room tonight, but they will be on my "Lock up your grandmothers thread.

Maybe I should have kept the tank........:-). So it's running well then? I hope those pushrod tube seals are still dry. Have the brakes improved a little with bedding in? Looking forward to the photos.

Not a oil leak insight

Even the charging system is behaving itself.

Reason I have been quite lately, several fold, have being busy ejoying myself,probably too much, cant do the things I use to
and it is catching up with me, my chest problems have reemerged, and I have discoveed G chat, and she has been keeping me up all night but today everything felt just right, I was back to my oldself, enjoying the ride, stopping for photo's etc. The bike is absolutly running like a 14year old teenager. THE bike for NZ and the conditions I had to day. My F800GS could have gone quicker, but would all so come unstuck much quicker, and they don't crash like a R80GS. If they go down even reasonbly hard, they usually are not rideaway.

Why do you think I snapped the bike up? It wss the 33 lt tank. But that is not big, I have a 49lt Hoske tank back in Oz, which fits right on a R80GS, and sold a motherfr 56lt Hoske tank to a friend doing a crossing of the Simpson a couple of years ago, and the Bastard won't sell it back to me

I will be back on the North Isle on Saturday.

Looks like McCardigan got his spot on the DB1K. The BMW contingent is growing. It will be good to have all that extra fuel around.

Hi Fella's

I have, with ADVGD's help, just put up the route files (roll chart and GPS). Only thing is that this year there is security on access to the files. You need to use your 2013 DB1K registration ID to access the files. If you no longer have the email containing your code you should be able to find it by viewing the Shoei DB1K payment record in your internet banking. Worst case scenario you can use the contact form on the website to email me and I can send you your registration code.

Got the GPS files on the puter.... Now how do yer make them jump into the GPS
The GPS has a mico SD card slot... wonder if I load them on a card... hope the plug & play thing works..
couldn't be that lucky...could I ?
It's a nuvi 50...

With 150 bikes... there should be someone to follow... just not the one thats lost...

As long as everybody from the first rider back makes it their absolute priority to lay as big of a gravel snake as they possibly can at each intersection then no-one will get lost.
