Advice wanted: wheel chock thingos
Looking for some advice, but I'm not sure what they're called in English: the metal hoop frameworks that can be bolted into a flat trailer to hold and lock a bike's wheel. Wheel chocks?
I know there are a few types around, but not sure what they're correctly called. Basically I want to hold a couple of big bikes stable in a flat trailer & haul them somewhere interesting: no point in squaring off tyres and trying to stay awake on the Hume, if we can trailer the bikes (and I can sleep off a hangover...) Anyone know what they're called? Which ones are good (or bad) and where to get them at a good price? SuperCheap do one at $90 - is that good? TIA

front wheel clamp?
I think you might be referring to a front wheel clamp with an eccentric cam effect. This locks the front wheeel in place without the need for tie downs compressing the suspension.
Ballards off road supply one, Whipps alloy make one. I have one that I have attached ot a alloy base plate that fits inside my VW transporter van, locating in the rear seat floor mounts. It works well.

In a former life in Autologistcs for nearly two decades we had trailer decks and metal bike pallets with 'wheel wells' in them, similiar approach i guess.
some of them had a throw over flap to make a flat deck,if needed, with 'D's postioned to take the straps. we used two straps on the front forks from short yoke straps around the triple trees, rag over the bottom of the rear wheel with a strap pulling backwards.

This is what I use in my trailer to support the front wheel (still using tie downs):
![]() I picked mine up at the local KTM dealer, but I found this pic HERE: http://www.stevecramerproducts.com.a...=724&B=33&BT=1
