Need some ideas on fastening sesahorse case to bike
So I bought this little seahorse case to store a few things in. It fits perfectly behind my Givi rack. I added the aluminum cross bars in the picture. Now I just need some ideas for mounting box to bike. I was thinking some sort of QR quarter turn fasteners like Dsuz, but other than the metal tabs that you find on race bodywork, I haven't really worked with them enough to know what to order. I also don't want the fastener to impede much of the space inside. I'm usually pretty good at figuring this stuff out, but I wanted to see what ADV Rider says. Any ideas?

Many months later... I finally got around to mounting it. I originally did all the work to find the measurements for Southco / Dzus Lion fasteners, but when it came down to ordering them, I couldn't find anyone that had all the parts I needed. Ended up redoing all the measurements for Dzus Panex fasteners and got all the parts I needed from kurveygirl.com for <$30. I probably could have done a better job, but it's solid!

The inside isn't as pretty, but I'll get around to some pics. I originally wanted a fully sealed (I believe the industry term is 'encapsulated') low profile quarter-turn fastener so that it wouldn't interfere with the internal storage space and of course still be water tight. Well, I spent many hours internetting w/o much. Camloc looked like they might have something to offer, but I can't remember why I didn't go with them - it may have been price. Some of these fasteners are very niche and can cost a ton. And then some had really high minimum orders if you could find them at all. In the end it was the trusty Dzus Panex. |
