Just got back, first time going in over three years.
Is it me or was this a whole lot smaller, last time it was in three room. Today was only in one. Actually was very disappointed in the showings. When had a few questions with the people representing the brands they didnt know the product line. In the honda booth asked if they had the new 500CC bikes, the guy said no. They were right behind him in the booth. This was pretty typical of the day.

There was one vendor selling boots, not one pair worth a damn.
Longest wait for the crappiest hot dog ever. I did however get a Shoei Qwest with an extra smoked shield for $350 out the door.

I have always been a fan of the show despite the fact that it gets smaller every year. Not any more. It's no longer worth the admission unless there is something specific I want to get there or see. I sure hope things turn around. Before I decide if I'll go next year, I'll check the list of vendors and the floor map (both are absent from the website this year).

Service Pavilion sent an email earlier in the week (if they have your email address) stating that they weren't going this year, but that you could still get good deals on Arai through them directly.
Got to look and feel the new BMW GS H20, it looked nicer in person, I think it will be a hit. KTM was there this year, first time in a few years- They had the new 690 Duke, but the 1290 Duke won't be out til '14...looong wait! Royal Enfield had a booth with a couple of cool lookin WWII bikes you could play "Army" on... There was a olive drab and "Rommel" desert tan 500cc Classic models- Single tractor seats, single disc up front with old-skool drum in back-BUT fuel injected! Honda had the new NC700X and the CBR 500 series: The 500 series had three different versions- a naked street fighter look(CBR-F), a racer with side panels (CBR500-R)and an upright GS looking 500 bike that was getting alot of attention, not coming out 'til May. All apparently using the same powerplant/tuning... Twisted Throttle and Touratech were side by side with all the farkley-shit... Pre ordered a Race Tech front spring set and their "Gold Valve" fork system on Friday- They were nice enough to bring my order to the show and give a $50 discount- very cool! Test rode a Harley for the second time in my life... A "switchback" 1200cc. The cool thing is they let you ride on your own- no group leader or pack to follow- The bike would make a great blvd cruiser, but I can't imagine riding it for anything other than that specifically- Just not my riding style. Bike had alot of low end torque which is fun to play with though... No deals on apparrel and swag like before... Also bought tickets and a campsite to Laguna Seca Moto GP in July :) Oh Yeah, EBR (Erik Buell Racing) had a $42,000.00 race bike on display with a beautiful sales girl....wow! Taking orders $38K-$45K! hankgs screwed with this post 12-08-2012 at 07:22 PM |

Touratech had a ton but I didnt see a whole lot from Twisted Throttle, and only one Rep. Scored a great coupon though.
And I didn't even see a BMW, did I miss a building or something?

whereabouts was the EBR booth next to? i missed it, and i would have loved to see it.
the fully restored and original "worlds fastest indian" was on display at a very nice indian semi and display area. they made a strong showing this year. i wish them the best of luck since they haven't had much in the last 15 years or so with other venture capitalists. |

Pick Pockets
FWIW, the pick pockets are out! Buddy got his wallet lifted in one of those crowded cage set-ups. By the time he realized it, the bastard was gone. Damn, I hate a thief!
Stick your wallet in your front pocket with your hand over it. If you get "bumped" immediately check for it. I did score a great deal on some Tourmaster Response boots. Same model as my worn out ones which they don't make anymore. Listed at $125, got 'em for $75 tax included. They do have the new model as well-make an offer. |
