Greetings from Sunny South Africa, Been many years since I twisted the ear of a bike , Last week this old workhorse decided to move into my Garage. Its a 1997 DF/DR 200 with 7009km on the clock .
Have some day trips scheduled in and around CapeTown /Elgin/Clanwilliam areas and will post some pics as we go along. http://s1303.beta.photobucket.com/us...64708807834743

Frame changes 2003 to 2008?
Anyone aware of frame changes from 2003 to 2008? I bought a set of Happy Trail pannier racks, and they don't seem to mounting correctly. While both the bike and the racks are used, neither appear abused enough that far out of skew.

Can someone please post a picture of the wire connector that comes off the rear turn signals? The black plastic part. It is snowing outside so I cannot get to it.

See Klay answered your question. I just had to add that you made me laugh when I read your last line. An inmate called the "thesurvivalist" can't go outside cause it's snowing. :grin

oil leaking
Hi! im Alex, long time advrider reader but new to the dr200 thread
i just recently bought a 2008 DR200se with 32000 miles on the clock. Since then i've noticed that oil is leaking from the top of the motor coming out from a screw. i think is the valve area. What would you think it could be? im the third owner, just did an oil change last weekend, added synthetic. Since i've added the whole Liter, instead of the 850mL (150mL more than specified) im guessing that the extra oil has no room inside that roaring motor and has to come out somehow. and how do you guys get rid of the smell of fuel? my girlfriend is complaining of keeping the smell of gasoline on her beatiful person thanks guys! Alejandro

Alex, is that 32 THOUSAND on a four year old 200 cc bike or 32 hundred? If it runs fine, starts easily and just needs a bit of topping off from time to time I'd leave it alone. Otherwise it's rebuild time. |
