maybe, maybe not. so many other factors have a bearing on whether it will run happy on 91. Valve timing/overlap, ignition map, also fuel injection can run a higher air/fuel mix than carbs . there's a bucket load of parameters.

what probably will happen is the engine management will retard ignition to stop the knock and it will suffer from worse power and fuel consumption as it runs the engine in a less optimal part of the mapping.

My single sparker gets best performance & economy from 95 (11.5 ratio)

no easy answer.

pricing looks good...

strada on bike sales ride away for $10795 here by a victorian dealer. and he's got the terra for $9995.

$9695 plus ORC in qld here and taking orders now. and the terra for $8995 plus ORC.

EDIT: and just popped in to full throttle at slacks creek, brisbane today. they sold their first batch out already but are taking orders for the second lot coming. $9995 on road with dual seat reg and 12 months. so a few hundred less if you went single seat reg for six months. bloody cheap for an european bike...

RIP KLR and DR!! ha ha

Hopefully this will force the Japs to stop producing 25yo bikes with the performance, economy and ergos to match and build 'modern' bikes!!

I would call it modern in the way of EFI , dash and its "look" but i certainly wouldn't say it has better suspension, weight and capability than a 25 yo design of the DR / KLR.

amen. although it's a bugger this husky is still so heavy. with the official specs saying 183kg for the terra it weighs a hell of a lot more than a DR650. if it was around the same weight i'd be ordering one now. there's an official husky model ride day this sat (with a terra included) at full throttle in bris between 8.30am and 2pm....

the usa-based thread on this bike is slamming it for having the rotax engines made in china now. but hopefully they'll have good quality control in place. most of our name brand goods are made there now and it's not an issue with western style checks in place.

183kgs wet/58hp, compares with 194kg wet/40hp KLR and 166kg wet/46hp DR650.

The Husky will run away from the other too and go a lot further on the same amount of fuel!!

Terra also makes the Tenere look very expensive in comparison!!

I may be wrong, I was wrong once before ( 1992 I think it was ) but the weight in the specs is 183kg ready to ride, I reckon that means full of fuel. DR weight specs is dry, take 13.5 kgs off the Terras weight then compare. Not much in it for the extra 15 ponies.

I reckon the Terra will piss over all the opposition.
