Yep... stock bars no longer fit without mods. CJ sells a modified set for Safari tanks, though.

The tanks are so freaking robust you don't really need bars. But, it'd be nice to have a set... just for someplace to mount some highway pegs for those uber-long highway days I find myself doing on trips.

Alright that's good to know. Planning a trip through Russia and could well use the extra capacity when the time comes, yet it'll really need to survive drops if they occur :)

Don't worry about these tanks taking a hit, I have abused mine with more drops and crashes than I can count and not a single issue. Personally I think crash bars are good for highway pegs or aux lighting and that's about it.

I salute your skills, riding one of these beasts across the Simpson with all of the sand dunes is an amazing feat, especially as laden these bikes looked. I chickened out (wisely as my skill levels proved) and skirted the edge of the Simpson down via Dalhousie, Mt Hamilton and Oodnadatta. Frankly, sandy roads and tracks were enough of challenge!

When I look at the pics now they really do look top heavy but they handled the Simpson very well for a big bike.
The Oodnadatta track is a very rewarding ride with lots to see and take in with its rich history.
The swim at Dalhousie was a special treat.

Dan, they are two of a kind and the colour of the Wolfman 's is the only difference, we asked Craig at Dalby Moto to build them for us and then we flew up and rode them home 8500k's with a unsupported crossing of the Simpson and they never missed a beat!! Great bikes and really good service from the team at Dalby.

A quick question, any luck getting the stickers to hold to the tank? It must be possible as the "Adventure" (painted on?) on the tank seems okay, but the 2 small stickers I put on are both bubbling.

The "Adventure" isn't painted on... it's embedded. More than likely, done while the tanks were in the mold.

Safari Tank Wrap Day



The short story is that after about a month and a half, a LOT of bubbles started appearing.

I now use just the smaller "KTM" decals my brother made. While they eventually, slightly bubble... they've been lasting a lot longer. It's been more than 6 months and they are only now showing signs that it's time to replace them...



There is a guy in Germany that prepped his Safari Tanks with Kreem and painted them...



I've been trying to find out how this paint job held up long-term, but can't find anything other than the initial info on the German forum.l88.info

Has anyone heard how the paint on these tanks are holding up?

Okay, after putting them on and taking them off (seemingly) countless times, I finally got them officially installed and passed the leak test. I had to take it out to OverdeBars to show them off, but still haven't bothered to fill them up yet.

It's always good to have a ridden buddy with a super tanker on those long trips.
