Also straighten it out. Hook the 405 up with Hwy 9 into an 8 lane wide freeway in each direction. Make 99 a freeway. Then we can talk about a toll.

Me too, but Link is kinda shy when it comes to hookers and blow,,the hunnert dollars bills are a nice perk too!
So add a cost to WA residents according to miles driven. Raising the state gas tax would work better IMO, so you are not missing the lawnmowers, boats, weedwhackers, camping generators and loads of other gas consuming modes that will NEVER put a mile on the road. Also ,a use tax on WA residents does not address the hundreds and thousands of non-WA vehickles that travel the state daily, putting wear and tear on the inferio-structure. How about the hundreds of miles ridden on non highway roads, one could argue, yes my bike is licensed but I rarely use public asphalt roads as most of my use is on gravel or FS roads,,you know,,those not maintained by this mileage use fee, so,, I ain't payin it! A mileage fee for out of state drivers? Say you want to drive to B.C.,,would there be a flat rate for traversing the state? Seems Olympia needs a major purge, or you guys have a really crappy list of representatives of the people to choose from,,makes me wonder how many of your states politi-folk are even from WA, and how many have moved there from somewhere they want you to be 'just like'. With this philosophy, people moving all around the country, and making things as they were where they just moved from will result in a huge homogenous mix of sameness everywhere, so that, eventually all communities will be exactly the same, and there will be no point in traveling anywhere. I remember signs from 40 years ago along the highway stating,"Turn around!,,This AIN"T California!". Too many people. Earth would be such a neat-0 place without people. What is the WA tax on fresh air these days? People in Tacoma should pay 15 times what they pay in Tonasket, just sayin.

![]() I don't have trouble paying gas tax for general roadway sustainment, development, etc. but I know gas taxes alone won't build the super highways that I won't use much. I get that the greater region would benefit so I'd pay some but not all of the fare required.

The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money.*
- de Toqueville As long as the majority is allowed to take from the minority, we will never get spending under control. We are already taxed sufficiently to cover the appropriate and proper expenditures of government. It's all the social engineering that is killing this state, and this country.

Uh, no, Oregon started it before WA.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_miles_traveled_tax In 2007, Oregon conducted a VMT tax pilot project and found that the concept was "feasible."[7] |
