I hate looking at these threads and realizing I don't have money to buy another motorcycle; but I hope that changes in the near future, because I liked the 2007 that I test rode. Sorry for not adding anything of substance, but you all have very nice FZ1's.

I just bought a 2006 Gen II with a couple insignificant mods. By far the most comfortable and powerful bike I have ever ridden.

The only complaints I have are the brakes and the handling. Im going to swap out the pads and re-bleed the front calipers. I think some tweaking with the suspension adjusters and new tires will make a big difference. I just ordered a new rear Pilot Road 3.

Congrats!!! Plenty of info about the brakes and handling on http://www.yamahafz1oa.com/forum/index.php.
Plenty of easy and relatively cheap solutions will fix any problems you have. Enjoy the new ride.

I picked up this 2009 a few weeks ago with 3,600 miles on it. I called Yamaha and found out that it was purchased new in February of this year so it's still under the original factory warranty

Here are a few iPhone shots from the first real ride...

So far I'm really enjoying it a lot.

I used to have an FJR1300 but the weight was a little to much at times. The FZ1 on the other hand feels so much lighter and the COG feels lower. So at low speeds (commuting) it's a lot easier to control.

At high speeds, well, lets just say I could loose my license in 3rd gear without hitting red line

And at my weight (155 lbs) the stock suspension is working great on the local mountain roads.

Is that lower fairing a factory accessory?

Awesome looking bike.

Jon, gorgeous bike! Major score. That's my favorite of all the FZ1 colors.

I sure love mine... I used to commute on my DR650, but this one is so much fun that it's the new commuter, even in the rain. New Pilot Road 2 tires are fantastic in the rain.

To the guy who complained about brakes and handling. Brakes can be fixed with better pads... Carbone Lorraine pads (I'll get these next too) are awesome. Handling.. do the tweaking you mentioned, but if you want to go even farther, look at Traxxion Dynamics. The PO of my bike had both ends resprung and revalved by them and the difference is amazing. My 70,000 mile-old 2001 outhandles my old 2010 Kawi Z1000.

Yes it's the factory fairing. The previous owner installed it and it totally transforms the bike. I also like the stock "street fighter" look and was all set to buy a new one when I came across this one. The cost savings and low mileage was too hard to pass up.

Rob,

Thanks, it is a fun bike that's for sure. And if I remember correctly you scored pretty good yourself on your bike.

I've heard good things about the Pilot Road 2's. I'll either go for those or maybe the new Pilot Road 3's. As you know living where it rains a lot wet traction is very important.

I finally broke down and got a real windscreen to replace my ghetto modified stock screen. I got the Givi touring screen from Twisted Throttle.

Nice improvement! The extra width takes a lot of pressure off the arms and shoulders, and the extra inch of height, combined with the more rounded shape and slight lip move the air blast up about two inches. There's a bit more noise in my helmet now, but with earplugs, it's not a big deal. Definitely a worthy trade off.

Hey wanted to show you guys this rack I have created for my own 06+ FZ1 that makes commuting easier. Its a billet rack and fender eliminator setup with mounting holes for a Monokey lug kit so that you can directly mount a Givi box to it.
They are on Ebay for $200
